Maybe it's just me, but these logo choices are horrrrrrible. It looks like they spent about as much time in MS Paint making them as they did naming the CFP.
Seriously, the NCAA football "pennant" logo... awesome.
The newest BCS logo, decent, and better than the original.
The top bowl logos, and the BCS Championship logos they make yearly... look great.
Who the **** came up with these as the 4 choices for the CFP?

Some of the bowl game logos look much better than these four CFP options. Others are either blah or, like the Fiesta Bowl logo, have been entirely taken over by sponsor names and logos.

Not trying to derail the thread, but the link in the OP pointed me to this little nugget:
"Beginning with the 2014-15 season, college football will enter a new era when a postseason playoff will begin. The format is simple: top four teams, two semifinals played in bowl games, and a national championship game played in a different city each year. Each semifinal will be played during the New Year's holiday with the national championship game in prime time on a Monday night at least a week later. It will be the best of all worlds, and the biggest innovation to the sport in decades."
ROFFLE!!! These same folks that had a list of reasons why a playoff was not feasible on their old site do a name change and a +1 model that they had also scoffed at and now call it innovation and boast about it? I cannot contain my laughter.

The logo creation process is an interesting one. I expect that these four are just door 1-4 for each logo style. I expect once one is picked, they will embark on fancying it up tremendously. I agree that the "name" is generic for a purpose, which is to sell the you know what out of it. Sponsorship, sponsorship, sponsorship.

If I was forced to pick one of these to better, it would be #3. I don't really like any of them though. With ESPN involved, I'm surprised.

Apparently ESPN owns the rights to the domain. They bought it years ago.

Yeah, the unspoken part of this is that each of these logos can easily be grafted onto a sponsor's logo, even a different logo every year if they want, maybe one year it's the AT&T College Football Playoff, the next year it's the Vizio College Football Playoff, etc. Auction the name off to the highest bidder every year unless one company blows everyone away with a crazy-high offer for a 6 or 12 year term.

I think the clear worst one is No. 4. I like Options No. 2 or 3 best but as I type this they are well behind...you guessed it, Option No. 4.

My take:
#1 looks like the 'All-American City' logo
#2 looks like they forgot to finish it
#3 looks like something from the Olympics
#4 looks like one of the Seattle Mariners logos
..#4 is the least sucky... but considering this shindig is going to most likely create mucho millions for the parties involved, let's hire an actual graphics design firm, shall we?
