Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - WesternBlazer - 03-27-2013 01:45 PM

Someone tweeted this to Scarbinsky:

Kevin Scarbinsky ‏@KevinScarbinsky 6h
That confirmed? RT @tracyrobbins: @KevinScarbinsky Ricky Tarrant will transfer to UA from Tulane. Really good PG.

Thx. RT @tracyrobbins: Close acquaintance of mine very close to Ricky Tarrant. Ricky's plan is to transfer and sit out Releford's Sr year.

Ok is this about getting closer to home....competition...or just a rumor...

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - mobileblazer - 03-27-2013 02:10 PM

Maybe improves our chances for Coleman?

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - Blazing Saddles - 03-27-2013 02:11 PM

I guess he's tired of losing to UAB. Transferring to UAT guarantees that he'll never have to face us again.

Yep!

Buzz about Pleasant Grove's Ricky Tarrant getting a release from Tulane to x-fer to Alabama is inaccurate. Just spoke with his Dad.

Fine journalism work, Scarbo

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - the_blazerman - 03-27-2013 02:50 PM

Scarbo never did say it was a done deal, just tweeting what someone had mentioned.

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - ATTALLABLAZE - 03-27-2013 02:51 PM

The plus for him is he would not have to worry about grades again.

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - the_blazerman - 03-27-2013 02:53 PM

I was going to mention that in a reply to Scarbo's tweet, but I decided not to.

Look at the recent history of guards at Alabama & their lack of success their senior year.

If I was Releford, I would jump right now to the NBA if I were a decent prospect.

He is still reporting something his source told him, without verification.

Releford's a good player, and I would love to have him as a college point guard. But he's not going to translate to the NBA. He can't shoot all that well, and he's not quite quick enough. Ultimately, I could see him as a bench player on a weaker NBA team, but he's not good enough to go out early unless there's some other reason for it. I'd be surprised if he's ever drafted at all.

Is he? Maybe I don't understand Twitter well enough, but it looks like he's asking a question in response to something someone tweeted at him. And then he says thanks. But he never turns around and actually tweets it out himself does he? I can't tell. I guess you could argue he shouldn't be doing that in a public forum, but anybody who doesn't take Twitter with a mountain of salt at this point is not too bright.

Correct sir in your assessment of the tweet.

He should have confirmed it and not in a public he could have at least sent a Dm to the source to determine the validity, instead of a public "seriously?" Santell did it right in going to a knowledgeable source and got confirmation that it was inaccurate before reporting publicly.

Most respected media members use twitter to break stories, so I would consider it should be considered more than a grain of salt. Someone should thinks of himself as respected like Scarbo, shouldn't be retweeting rumors unless he has confirmed it. Santell did it the right way. Scarbo didn't.

Here is what I know for sure: It is a weird-ass world we're living in, and I don't like it. Everybody get off my lawn.

Maybe we should beat Scarbo with a buggy whip?

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - Memphis Blazer - 03-28-2013 11:05 AM

So you are the only one who can criticize media for small unimportant matters.

RE: Ricky Tarrant transferring to Alabama? - ATTALLABLAZE - 03-28-2013 11:38 AM

No. I just think twitter should be used with a grain of salt as well. Now if he had linked it back to an al.com article stating that I would be with ya.
