They will definitely compete for being one of the top basketball conferences in America. Who else will really have the potential to be as strong as them? ACC would. Big 10 maybe?

We have Catholics with privates who go to school. Close enough.

No, No and No...

Oh, I think YES.

I'd rather see St. Louis, VCU, Creighton & Butler than UTSA, Rice, North Texas and FIU. How can you possibly argue with that? It's pretty obvious that basketball would be better off in the A-10. It would put us in a better position for a possible invite over the Left-Behind-Afterthought of a league we're now in.

:muttering:

Because the A-10 dont play foooossssbbaalllll.

RE: AP: Butler, Creighton, Xavier to the Big East (C7) - ATTALLABLAZE - 03-20-2013 03:26 PM

I'd rather see UAB play. I will be there no matter who we play. I certainly don't want to trade dropping football down or to the Belt for a watered down A-10 in basketball. The A-10 tomorrow won't be what it is today. just tip it off and I will be there no matter the opponent.

Are we seriously going to draw more for VCU, Creighton, and St Louis? Seriously? The past says no. You failed to mention the rest of the A-10 that is no better a draw than the rest of C-USA. Creighton is MVC right now.

Ya, I know.

College football is the opiate of the southern masses. I enjoy it to an extent, but am NOT addicted. NFL is bettah.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a supporter of UAB football and attend games, but basketball has always been first with me. I know it's blasphemy on this board, but the hard truth is that UAB basketball would be better served in the A-10, and that football only made us enemies in low-down (BOT) places. I'd rather be in St. Louis' position.

Sad, but true. 03-shhhh

A10 ain't that hot of a basketball league after the raiding is completed. Certainly no better than new CUSA

RE: AP: Butler, Creighton, Xavier to the Big East (C7) - ATTALLABLAZE - 03-20-2013 04:45 PM

I agree. Better to stay where we are for now and concentrate on being the best UAB we can be in both sports IMHO.

You're right.

I'm just envious and mad. My March Madness has become March Jealousy. Seeing the success of former conference peers makes me crazy. I'm tired of UAB languishing in nowhereville.

I've got the No-Post-Season Blues. Bleh. 03-drunk

RE: AP: Butler, Creighton, Xavier to the Big East (C7) - GreenMississippi - 03-20-2013 07:33 PM

I say raid the A-10.

Take UMass*, VCU, Richmond, George Washington, St. Joes, and either Fordham/Duquesne/Rhode Island. That would leave them with 4 members (assuming SLU and Dayton are also gone). That might be enough to dissolve the conference so no exit fee is required.

C*USA goes to 19 total (assuming Tulsa leaves) for a 14 football+5 Olympic Only league. Everyone plays 9 Home and 9 Away games in Basketball. This would be a much better basketball league than what the A-10 is about to become after this year.

Worked great for the Big East, right?
