NIU just got raped on a missed pass interference call at the goal line.....with a ref 2 yds away.
They won't let the little guys get close.

Absolutely, and they have no business playing in bowl of this caliber. FSU is not MAC-level compitetion.

This game could and should have been much worse if FSU would have ever gotten out of their own way offensively. NIU had some moments, but this looked a lot like what normally happens when one of our conference top teams plays the top team in a BCS league.
NIU is living proof of how to get into the BCS from our leagues though. Get an easy schedule, win your games and get the bid. ASU should learn from them. Playing Oregon was a nice lesson about how top competition plays, but we'll never make a BCS bowl playing top notch teams in the regular season.

It seemed to me that they spent a little too much time trying to blow up NIU for Sports Center than they did trying to just take care of business and overpower NIU.

If FSU played this way every game the would've gone undefeated. They were preseason number one you know. They lost to North Carolina State don't forget and squeaked by Georgia Tech. The pundits seem to forget such, all they want to talk about his how bad they should beat any non AQ team they face. NIU is a good team but on this night FSU was better because they played likely the best defensive game they have all season.

I hate the pundits because they're usually wrong - even when they're right.
It's no surprise that NIU lost to FSU, but how many Big Ten teams not named Ohio State would've beaten the 'Noles? Purdue lost by 44 to a mediocre Ok St. squad but I didn't hear any derisive comments about the Boilermakers.
The BCS is a rigged system to benefit the Money Conferences and Notre Dame. There have been 126 appearances by AQ schools compared to just 8 by non-AQ's and Hawaii, Boise St., Utah, TCU, and NIU have ALL been "undeserving" of their appearances according to most media even though the results are 5-3.
The ACC is 4-13 (including last night) in BCS Bowls and only Ohio State out of the Big 10 has a winning record.
Florida, LSU, USC, and recently Alabama have been pretty dominant, but no other school can really make that claim.
I believe the derision of non-AQ's is just a way for ESPN and others to perpetuate the myth that there are 68 Superior schools instead of the real 8-12.
