Technique and leverage is all it takes, every time.

That's why you have coaches on the sidelines.

BTW, the 49er's absolutely destroyed Da Bears last night in SF.

Can't tell you how many times I heard "low man wins" when I played in high school. Trust me it works as I was a 180 pound offensive lineman.

I wonder what Smith thought when he saw Gore blow up Briggs? I bet there has been played over and over again in the film study section today for both teams.

sometimes it helps to have long arms too. One of my HS best lineman was 5'11" with a 6'7" wingspan and only weighed about 220 lbs and could control the 350 lb nose tackles we'd sometimes see because he could get to them and all they could do was flail their little arms.

The more I look, the more I think Briggs never even saw Gore. Doesn't make it better - it was flat-out, open-field destruction - but looking at his helmet it's like he keyed on Kaepernick, found himself on the turf, then looked up to see 5'9" Frank Gore. Man, just hit the showers at that point...

Spoken like somebody that's never played

FIFY

But you're half right...the football coach was the baseball coach. My junior year he suggested that if I was planning on staying 5'9" 175 but playing like I was 6'4" 240, I would be better served in the batting cages during Fall. Good advice, and I'm glad I took it.

Low man wins AND never leave your feet at the line of scrimmage.

RE: OT: Now THIS is just sad - GreenHornet33 - 11-20-2012 04:40 PM

Shammar Abrams was a helluva DT for the Blazers back in the day and is only around 5'11 or so (media guide had him around 6-feet).

Curtis Jeter in the late 90s. Nose Guard we had at 5'11", the Tennessee Valley Vipers had listed at 6'1", but I'd be stunned to learn he was taller than 5'9".

not if you are a 148lb og against a 310lb dt.

That wouldn't happen to Urlacher.

Frank Gore is the guy that all the tough guys from Miami are afraid to cross in a dark alley. He can and will block anybody.

Truth. Marshawn Lynch may have "Beast Mode" (and that's damn impressive), but Gore does it all.
