If the teams stay the same for both leagues....which league will have the most success on the football field in 5 years?

Is it August yet?

I see both being about the same to be honest....

I will say I truly believe the SBC will continue to grow and we will start winning more OOC game and we will have a Ranked Team before 2018.

We (the SBC) will have a ranked team within 2-3 years.

I think so too. Hopefully its Troy!

Undoubtedly. It's been years in the making, the Sun Belt's eventual rise to be a consistent top 25 team producing conference. I'd guess it'll be UL or stAte first off, followed perhaps by MT, Troy, or Texas State. The more "big-name" OOC games we can schedule (and WIN) the better it is for our conference. Instead of scheduling the smaller schools, think big - get wins, and rise in the rankings.

Honestly, I think we will see the Sun Belt early on with great success, but at the end of 5 years, Conference USA will be on top.

Southern Miss, Tulsa, and ECU are well-established football programs with good talent and position coaching.

Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee will rise up these next couple seasons and do tremendously well. I fully expect stAte to edge the Top 20 this time.

Our teams have to avoid the seemingly inevitable crash and burn that follows a run of success.

See FAU, MT, Troy, NT - All programs that have been to the top of the mountain. All programs that didn't stay there and came crashing down to the depths of the conference.

We'll see if ASU and ULL prove any different. We need them too, while the 4 mentioned above get back up off the mat.

Great, so your saying App State will be in the SBC with 2-3 years!?! Kidding..only partly.

Pardon my lack of memory (too much hops on the brain thanks to my college days in San Marcos), but wasn't UNT ranked in the top 25 during their run at the top of the Sun Belt?

I can't remember distinctly one way or the other, but have a feeling that was the case.

RE: 2018 - SBC vs. CUSA - OsageJ - 05-22-2012 10:09 AM

UNT was never ranked. We have never had a top 25 ranked team from the SBC. Its getting to be time for that to happen.

RE: 2018 - SBC vs. CUSA - Atlanta Trojan - 05-22-2012 12:23 PM

Troy has had 30 something votes in the polls back in 2009. Ranked in the 30s

I see the conferences as even.
