Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - RaiderDoug - 05-14-2012 09:48 PM

USA today came out with another one of their charts showing the total revenue and expenditures for each program in college football in 2011.

Revenues:

ASU: $13,374,507
FAU: $19,438,422
FIU: $23,849,954
ULL: $13,556,901
ULM: $11,661,727
MT: $27,125,185
NT: $11,259,222
USA: $17,432,045
Troy: $15,246,720
WKU: $22,269,484

New guys:

GSU: $22,895,575
TxSt: $21,741,489

Maybe new guys:

App: $17,748,605
GaSouthern: $11,245,505

There's also some interesting data on where that cash comes from. I don't know how accurate they are - they mostly look good but that NT figure looks crazy low to me.

What's so funny TXSTCAT?

RE: Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - Glassonion - 05-14-2012 10:08 PM

Look at the % subsidy at Ga St, almost 90% !!

14th out of 227 in that category. Most of the SB is hovering around 50%.

RE: Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - bluephi1914 - 05-14-2012 10:09 PM

According to that chart, ULM (regardless of how much ish ignorant detractors of the same give it) appears to flipped a $1.4M profit in 2011.

Georgia 3.5%
GaTech 11.9%
GaState 84.7%

Lost a quarter of a Million dollars.

This just further proves CUSA is full of crap. UNT has the lowest revenue of all the programs and they were invited. What a joke.

USA is pretty high too. It may have something to do with being start-up.

Im glad to be getting rid of UNT. They have been holding us back for years. Yes their new stadium is NICE but winning seasons would be better. UNT won 5 games this year in football and that was a HUGE improvement for them.

Getting Texas State will be much better in my opinion.

RE: Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - CrushMI - 05-14-2012 10:33 PM

would be interesting to compare CUSA-Lite vs SBC.....

You are right. UNT won 5 games last season, and it was a huge improvement. One of the games we won was against Troy. UNT is improving.... Troy won 3 games last season. 01-wingedeagle

I'm glad you are happy with Texas State. I hope they will be a model program that Troy can build a great rivalry with.

RE: Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - Burn the Horse - 05-14-2012 11:09 PM

UNT won 5 games, best season in years. Troy won 3 games, worst season EVER. I suspect you will see a much different Troy squad take the field this season, I also expect to destroy the Mean Green as usual.

If Troy continues to spiral out of control like UNT did then I'll humble myself and accept our new place, but one bad season due to massive losses on the offense side of the ball (our bread and butter) does not mean we are through.

I expect Troy to recover and assume our usual place as head of the Sun Belt Conference in football. We don't know how to do anything else.

I agree. I believe Troy will be better next season, but there is no way you will role into Apogee and get an easy win. Troy will have a fight on their hands, and they probably won't win it.

edit: I can't wait for my Trojans to send UNT on its way to C-USA with one last beatdown bye bye from the Sun Belt. 05-stirthepot

You'd better hope you "return" in football because the balance of your total program for athletics is pathetic and makes Troy a bottom feeder in the Belt (11th out of 12 schools).05-nono

RE: Sunbelt Total Revenues - 2011 - Burn the Horse - 05-14-2012 11:26 PM

Well obviously I expect a fight when we roll in to Denton, but walking out with a win is a Trojan expectation. We never go in to a Sun Belt Conference game looking for anything other than a win. Like I said, we don't know any different.

Has UNT ever finished better than .500 as an FBS program?
