Im heading up to Bowling Green for the SBC Baseball Tourney in a couple weeks. I am lookng for some nice but not terribly expensive hotels to stay at, and things to do while there.

Any ideas?

Not too far to Metropolis, Ill. 45 minutes from downtown Nashville.
The Corvette Museum is really cool.

how much a night are you wanting to spend. the quality inn is a little old but clean. sleep in is pretty new but a little more than the quality inn. ramada inn is really old. most of the good priced hotels in bowling green are old. so it could be hit or miss with them. but i've stayed in the quality and sleep and didn't have any problems. for things to do there is lost river cave. in franklin, ky (20mins) there is kentucky downs. the have syndicated horse racing.

RE: WKU fans - wkuhilltopperfan - 05-10-2012 11:49 AM

There are two or three new hotels but I don't know the prices, but most of the hotels are kept up pretty nice around here. If you have never been to Mamouth cave it's a must do also. It's about a 30 min drive

Check out the Microtel Inn. It's not anything fancy but has interior room entrances, clean, free continental breakfast and should easily fit into your price range. There are a few restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel as well. It is also located right near I-65 which will help cut down on your commute time to various places including the stadium.

90 a night. you should have no problem getting a nice hotel. fairfield is nice. it should be a little over 90 after taxes. i think the hampton is already full. i can give you a code for quality inn or sleep inn if you book online.

The best thing about the tourney being at the downtown stadium is its location. It is just a block or two away from downtown eateries and bars. So pre and post game there will be plenty of options to get something to eat and drink the night away.

Also, just past the left field wall you will see the new Performing Arts Center. If you are into the arts I have heard that it is an outstanding facility. Not sure what shows will be available during the tourney, but it is another possibility.

the park is great. was there last week for wku vs louisville game. lots of room. seats or grass area. lots of parking($5). only thing watch out for the one way streets down there. besides that it's in a great location. also you have to go to chaney's dairy barn. it's a few miles out of town but it's worth it.

For $90, you could probably get Marriott Courtyard or Holiday Inn - University Plaza. There is a newly renovated Holiday Inn Express that is opening soon (if not already).

The first two are closest to campus.

Sites:
Corvette Museum
Corvette Plant Tour
Lost River Cave
Beach Bend Amusement Park
Mammoth Cave National Park

Restaurants:
Mariah's (walking distance to ball park, great happy hour specials in bar)
Brickyard Cafe
Verdi
Thai Thai
Montana Grille
Double Dogs (sports bar)
Lost River Pizza Co (sports bar, lots of beer options)
Mellow Mushroom (just opened, lots of beer options)

RE: WKU fans - chiefsfan - 05-10-2012 02:40 PM

Thanks for the resteraunt advice guys. Ive got to work Wednesday, but Ill be driving in Thursday morning, and catching the rest of the tournament through Sunday's Finals.

Ill be one of the crazy ones in all ASU garb watching two other random teams. Its my first ever conference tourney and I am looking forward to it, also my first trip to Bowling Green, which is an added Bonus.

I used my discounts at the Microtel to get the room for 49 bucks a night, I highly doubt I could get much lower then that.
