Good meeting today - statefanatic - 05-07-2012 08:40 PM
Lots of stuff discussed. Don't know what changed but my source said it looks like the Belt will add just one more school. Most of the presidents want to see how things look after the 2012 season.

You think that means UT-A which still hasnt been announced?
I cant imagine just picking up one more Football school unless the MTSU to CUSA thing has legs.

I really don't have a clue who it will be.the person I get my info from is all over the place. He usually is in the know but he even admits that things keep changing to much to keep up.

Benson has said that they will be happy with 12 football members. From his comments after Tex State/UTA it sounded like they were done for the year.

I think it has more to do with waiting to see who is available next year. CUSA may lose some more teams and MTSU may even leave the Belt.

I wouldn't think so. This is far from over. The BIG East is a mess and CUSA is still unstable. The Belt is playing the waiting game.

You don't invite an FCS school is you can get an FBS one that is in our region. If ECU and USM were to leave CUSA then the Belt would have more to offer a UAB.

What are they waiting for?
Do they think the Big East is gonna break up and the Sun Belt will get some teams? Chance: 0%
Do they think CUSA loses a couple of teams? Well, then they take MTSU and somebody else and what did you gain by waiting?
The only effect that can trickle down to us is getting raided. And waiting does nothing for that.
Since there are no good effects....what are the bad effects? You prolong FBS transition for your call-ups by a year which delays you advancement by....one year.
Somebody explain it logically. I'm not buying "cause we want to see what its like after 2012". That ain't logic.

UAB? UAB is a boat anchor on CUSA. It does us more good staying in CUSA. It has very little future and a Board of Regents owned by the elephant. It has NO chance of helping us reach our goal of passing MAC, MWC, and CUSA. Them staying WITH CUSA helps that goal more.
The FCS call-ups at least have some chance of making good at some point.

The impact is those you would likely invite will have one or more recruiting seasons against new FBS programs giving them an unnecessary leg up. How does that help the Sun Belt? If you're close to your presidents please pass that message along to them.

Can we assume the one add, if the report is true, is UTA? Would App State turn the Belt down? Would Ga. Southern?
