-28 in Oklahoma - Paul M - 02-10-2011 09:18 AM

In Bartlesville, about 20 miles from me, shattering the old record for the state. Just saying.

As a side note, for those who go on about how life on our planet can't survive rapid temperature change, there will be a 100 degree change (72 degrees by Wednesday) over the next 6 days. Speaking for myself, I'm going to relish the rapid temperature change.

-10 this morning in Mpls.

Has been cold for a while now, the weather guy said that ice on the roads has been compacted enough, and frozen enough, to be harder than some soft rocks like sandstone and limestone. He was saying watch out hitting those ice boogers that fall off of cars, its like hitting a tree branch

-10 in west suburbs of Chicago this morning, high of 14. Warming up over the next couple days though.

Pretty sure when they're talking about rapid temperature change, they're talking long term. We have rapid temperature changes every year.

Damn bitter cold. Houston just caught the ragged edge of this system. About 28 overnight.

Yes, I understand. I just don't buy a 1 degree change over 100 years is more severe or detrimental than 100 degrees in 6 days. Want to know why? Because it isn't.

I didn't think Obama could cool the planet so fast. You guys better get your supplies now. The next Ice Age is coming. 05-stirthepot

Seriously, that is exactly what all the "experts" and other assorted hysterics were warning us back in the 1970s. One such warning was actually on the cover of TIME or Newsweek (forget which) in about 1975/76.

Wait another couple of decades or so, and the hysterics will probably switch back to "Ice Age" warnings all over again.

That is what I would dread, cooling. I welcome warming. Not the 6 day warming, the long term "rapid" warming.

1 degree? Yea, I'd agree there.

Aren't we due for an ice age though? We don't know when it would start (assuming global warming wouldn't short-circuit it - that's for another thread), we could be off by 1000 years. Not surprising it hasn't happened in the 20 years since they started predicting it.

OK, whatever number Gore and the UN etcetera are pulling out of their arses these days.

They could steal the 100's of billions/trillions, heck, they could plunder every last cent of the worlds wealth and they would still not be able to control the driver of our climate... the sun. The climate your grandchildren experience isn't going to be determined by what you drive today.

I'm going to write a book and call it "Global Cooling". I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Just give me my Nobel Prize now.

I think you have to get elected to something as a Democrat first. (Carter, Gore, Obama).

You just know there's a part of Clinton's ego that cannot stand being left off that list, while those other 3 are on it.

I think we both know it's more complicated than that.

Never thought about that.............. You're probably correct in your assessment.
