Or so sez Rivals.
Next season's conference champion: FIU. The Panthers got a taste of the good life this season, and they should be in no hurry to move from the league penthouse. Eight starters return on offense and seven are returning on defense. Coach Mario Cristobal and his staff have done yeoman work turning FIU from a laughingstock into a league contender. FIU, which is located in Miami, is smack dab in the middle of a recruiting mother lode, and there's no reason to think the Panthers are going to take a step back anytime soon.

I think some people are going to be surprised by Troy when football season hits. I believe we're going to be a lot better than expected.

The big question is can FIU handle the pressure of being picked to win the conference? That preseason champ from last year just couldn't handle it. I expect Troy to rebound from it's down year and be much improved in 2011.

Congrats. To FIU tho. But for Troy to have been in a rebuilding year last year and still get a shair of the conference shows a lot about Troy...Troy will be top 2 next year as well no doubt!

damn troy talks of improving teams as if FIU isnt goin to improve either?... either way i dont like being paper champs.. all that is on my mind is being 2011 SBC (outright).

Hopefully, with the coaching changes and good recruiting, the whole league is improving. With respect to FIU, you beat us and no one is denying that, but history shows that we don't lose to the same team in back-to-back seasons. We usually beat ULM in Troy, but we usually beat FIU wherever we play. You've got to know this one will be circled on the calendar...It should be one of the best SBC games, if both teams are near the top.

uhhumm, didn't 'history' also show that you didn't lose conference games at home?
You usually beat five year-old FIU everywhere you play...now there's a track-record you can hang your hat on.

Out of those 5 yrs, you guys have won a grand total of once. Granted, it was impressive, but that's only a 20% winning percentage. I'll take the 80%...
