I caught a bit, here and there, of the ESPN College basketball award show tonight. I don't know who won all the awards, but this is what I caught.

POY: Jason Williams
Best Pt guard: Jason Williams
Best Center: Carlos Boozer
Best Swing Forward: Mike Dunleavy
Best Shooting Guard: Juan Dixon

So, let me see if I get this straight. This is what I've heard from ESPN this year.

Duke has the best player in College basketball.
Duke has the best PG not only in college basketball, but the entire world...well with the exception of Jason Kidd.
Duke has the best backcourt in college basketball history.
Duke would beat the chicago bulls.
Duke has the best Center in college basketball.
Duke has the best swing forward in college basketball.

Now duke is a good team and all. But with the resume above you would think that they would win the national championship. Hell, you would think they would at least make the final 4. final 8? You would think they would win their own league? OK, at least come within a game? Hmmm. Must be there coach then. Oh, right; He's supposed to be one of the all time great coaches.

I've gone over this, and over this. Something just doesn't add up.

just my $.02

Of course it is ridiculous what ESPN does with and for Duke.

But what is really mysterious is that they can have:
3 1st Team All-ACC players
2 All-ACC Defensive players
a Hall of Fame coach
the National Player of the Year

...and Duke still couldn't win the ACC regular season or get past the Sweet 16.

I just read in the Washington post that Tom Coverdale was the most outstanding player in the south region. I'm actually mildly surprised JWill didn't get that. <img border="0" alt="[bang]" title="" src="graemlins/banghead.gif" />
