Kind of disappointed in the TXST men so far, but I do believe they will work their way in the top 4.

This Championship is key to who brings home the Conference Cup this year.

TXST men usually start off in the top 3, then fall off. Now they're low...maybe they'll go way up?

That said, there's only 5 strokes between 2nd and 5th place. The gap is between 1 and 2. State had a hell of a first round.

It's nice ot see us start strong. We've always been one of the top 4 seeds entering the tournament, but wouldn't always make match play because we'd start so dang slow.

unless I'm in a money game, match play is a joke when deciding a team championship ... the Ryder Cup/Presidents Cup are anomalies ... it's akin to grading on the curve where the student can lose early/win late and change the overall outcome if finishing strong ... ranks up there with Nascar's stupid arse stages/playoff formatting...

fwiw, they changed it to the current format in '09...

oh, wellzy...

NCAAs are also decided by match play. Might be quirky, but eliminates a team relying on a superstar player.

Played one match play tournament during my collegiate days and honestly its one of the few I remember well.

that was the point of "...changed format in '09"

match play rewards inconsistency and can be manipulated ... again, lose early (press at will) win late .... that's how I made it through the college days .... 03-wink

Yes, but harder to manipulate the more consistent and better the players get. A +4 handicap can't manipulate match play as much as a 20 handicap.

We're a golf school when we're not busy being a track and field school.

I suppose there's not much else to do in Arkansas besides running around; either chasing a tiny white ball from hole to hole or just, basically, running. :)

Well, sometimes we tackle each other but it's usually the club sport rugby team. The football team, not so much. 03-yawn

all depends whether one is a birdie machine or not ... I never picked the nick faldo in any single/double lo game unless he was the C guy...
