RIP former ODU broadcaster Tony Mercurio

Name likely won’t mean much unless you followed ODU or JMU sports. He did ODU women’s basketball for seemingly ever and also had a long-running afternoon talker before sports talk became ubiquitous. Definitely an acquired taste but you don’t last as long as he did in radio without hitting on something.

Remember him from the wayback machine.
Sorry to read.

RIP
Pretty sure we liked listening to him over the AM from our haunt in Kitty Hawk.

Nothing else available back then…

I loved to here him interview Dave Rosenfield (Forever Tides GM) and Jack Ankerson (Squires GM) and the guy who played in the NFL in the '50s. I think he did great talks with Sonny Randle?

RIP Tony. Remember him quite well and enjoyed his commentary. Yup, those chats with ex-Marshall coach Sonny Randle were great.
