He’s functional.

Not super excited about him, but he’s a body who can score and can play in the MAC

Looks like an excellent get. Do-everything type who can score and play bigger than most guards.

He has been in the back of my mind since he entered the portal as I know TK has talked him up when we played UB. He's a talented guy who was stuck in a lousy situation as Buffalo's program imploded. I see him as a good fit for us in that he is a pretty good ballhandler, passer and shooter and has the skill to fit right into the offense.

Bringing in guys 6-4, 6-5, 6-6, 6-8, 6-9 who can all shoot from outside.

None of whom can play the center position as we head down the same road.

RE: Mens basketball transfer Isaiah Adams
In a Kyle Rowland Blade article tonight, Adams said it came down to Toledo and home state school Florida St and that his decision was based on "where he could put himself in the best position to play professionally. He noted the player development of Rollins, Dennis, Milner, Shumate, Jackson, Littleson, Moss, and Maddox as factors in his decision. TK said that Adams, who averaged 18ppg. in 4 games against Toledo, reminds him a lot of Tre 'Shaun Fletcher and that he has a very good feel for his game from both playing against him and from pre game scouting.

yeah, man, I feel the same way. I was thinking a hybrid of Fletcher and Jeremy Harris, a key guy in those 2 great Nate oats coached buffalo teams that each won NCAA games. The focus on player development is true. UT makes guys better, especially as shooters-give us a pretty good shooter and we'll turn out a really good one. give us a good shooter and he'll leave a great one-could really work for adams. he has the size, athleticism, skills, mechanics to be a really good player. buffalo seemed confused where to cast him. I saw UB games where he was as good as anyone on the floor and others where he was just a guy. Had similar up n down play in his 2 years at UCF.

I think we allow him to just be a big physical guard in a 3 guard lineup. tighten up his ballhandling, which is already pretty good, same w the shot. if he's competitive and motivated at a high a level he'll be good at UT. Cochran may come back, if not, who knows who starts (?Wilson Adams Hubbard Simmons O'Rourke/Lewis/Lorentsson? but we'll see 5 on the floor like. Hubbard Adams Ford O'Rourke Simmons. or Wilson Adams Ode Lewis Lorentsson. lots of 6-5 to 6-8 shooters and scorers. Thomas and Brcic both have potential and size, Grgur may end up as the only thing we have close to a center. If TC returns that's some size as well as defense and shot making. Won't have to rely on any freshmen next yr. we lose 2 linebackers in Maddox and Moss and a third if TC transfers. we've brought in taller longer guys which is only good if they play physical too.

Nice stuff Pono - I just wish these transfers would have at least 2 years eligibility with UT. I'm glad to have them but that's the only negative for me in 2 of the signings. Otherwise I'm happy with the transfers until proven otherwise. I think TK did his best and he got guys he knows and has seen play numerous times or has close contacts that have done so. I think that's a big deal and counts for much. I really like the additions. good stuff.

So - I guess that means we're full-up scholarship-wise. Does that confirm that Cochran is not returning?? If he did return then how do we fit him into roster? Comments?!

I think we have a good roster going into '25. I'd love to get TC back. That would be the cream but even if he doesn't I'm fine by where we sit with the roster.

Great stuff and excited for next season. Really looking forward to year 2 of last years guys and Ode & Ouwinga. All good for me as a men's fan at present. I trust TK to put a good team on the floor.

They still have one scholarship left, which they are leaving open for Cochran's possible return for the time being. Jaylen Murphy is a preferred walk-on, so does not count towards the scholarship total if you were counting him.

I think the addition of Hubbard & Adams will eventually offset the loss of Moss and Maddox …
Who knows, it may be a positive !!
A 6-9 banger to give Simmons a breather would be nice…
Maybe Gric will fill the void …

RE: Mens basketball transfer Isaiah Adams
I like the potential of this team with the 5 new players they brought in combined with what we have returning. As in past seasons, success is going to be based on how the Coaching Staff meshes the old with the new. Knowing how much TK emphasizes team culture, I think that part will be good as I am sure the staff has done their due diligence on each of the newcomers. Now its is just a matter of finding where each player fits into the rotation and gives us the best opportunity to be successful.

Here's another angle - What does a scholarship really mean these days in the age of NIL. If your NIL is greater than the tuition then what does it matter if you are a walk-on or a scholarship player? I think anyone can get NIL $$$ - walk-on or scholarship. This is why things are so screwed-up. No one knows the rules any more.

It seems like we could add TC even if we were full based on scholarships.
