...couldn't make it...

...did anything of interest transpire? The BIG question - did the defense have a pulse?

RE: Football Spring Showcase FAQS (4/6/24)
First defense looks a lot better. New players are upgrades in talent, some of the young guys from last year physically look a lot better.

There are some seriously fast guys deep in that WR room. I don’t see how you keep Miliner and Shanks off the field. They are going to be impact weapons.

Second defense got lit up. Some depth needed there. But some of that may have been just said WR talent getting loose. I think a lot of work to do on depth though. And some young guys down in the third unit did some good things; a few of them might climb the depth chart.

Some of the new OL impressed me and it was great to see Flournoy running with the 1s. I don’t know how he is grading out but man, Barry Walker passes the airport test.

This team looks a lot more athletic and in general just bigger and stronger than last season. Dilfer said in a recent interview with JOX that he expects to be active in the portal and I would assume that would focus on shoring up the defense some more.

I was very impressed with the speed and catching ability of RS Freshman Corri Milliner ( #17). That guy had a great top speed! All the QB's ( except Kitna) got some time on the field and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Lyddy didnt have any INT's ; he actually did a pretty good job, as did all the non-starters from last season. Witherspoon and Beebe ran very well. I didnt notice any other RB's Saturday but Im sure there were others who got some playing time. The O-line was pretty good but did give up some sacks, mainly due to great defensive coverage down field, which also led to some Zeno runs.

Miliner is F-A-S-T!
Shanks is a bigtime talent. He has the great combination of vision and shiftiness to go with top end speed.

I don't think there is any question this team is better equipped, talent wise, than it was last fall. The staff has worked their tail off to fix some bad roster construction that they inherited.
