Ross Dellenger on "Super League"
Note to Stewart Mandel and Andrew Marchand from the Athletic: The NFL's "No. 2" executive, an NBA owner, an executive search firm and a couple of presidents from outside the B1G/SEC don't make for a "powerful" group at the top level of College Football — even if Jim Phillips sets up a meeting with the ACC's board of directors.

I actually like the base idea of the league—-but I don’t see it going anywhere right now.

RE: Ross Dellenger on "Super League"
I’m excited about the expanded CFP.
CST Proposal was fun. WVU and Syracuse thought they were power players for a moment.
I wonder if TurnkeyZRG will be used less often as a result of them overstepping.

I don't consider it overstepping at all, it's just conversation for right now, and it might help to start future conversations about the overall direction of college sports. So often we here think that Sankey, Petitti, Swarbrick, and a half dozen other ADs all sit in a smoke-filled room and make all decisions for everybody. It's not that unusual for a random Big 12 or ACC Administrator to be involved in or even lead these sorts of discussions. In fact, that was at least some of the impetus that got Sankey and Petitti talking, they wanted to lead the conversation and get what they felt they deserved instead of continuing to allow others to make all of the decisions, often to the detriment of the P2.
Also, where do you think Alabama or Texas gets their AD? Heck, A&M's AD got swiped by tOSU a few months ago, then we turned around and swiped Nebraska's AD. Chris Del Conte spent time at Washington St and Arizona as an Assistant AD, then he was AD at Rice, then TCU, then finally he ended up at Texas. His voice was always powerful, and if he'd been on a committee like this during his TCU or Rice days then it still would have been worth considering. Perhaps the nature of that committee should tell us that the WVU and Syracuse ADs are on the rise?

RE: Ross Dellenger on "Super League"
The thing that I find strange is that some who support this Super League seem to think that earth-shaking court decisions, such as decisions mandating full pay for play, or else a billion-dollar NIL lawsuit settlement, will "compel" the P2 to participate in a broad Super League (a weird concept itself, IMO). As if somehow, these things would be particularly damaging to the P2 such that they need to be grouped in with the M2 and the G5.
IMO, the opposite would be true - the P2 could handle those far easier than anyone else, as they have far more resources. Alabama can pay players, but I shudder to think how a G5 like my USF, which already runs close to a $30 million a year operating loss on athletics, will do so.
Doesn't compute to me.

They'll weed it down, just like in '78, then the creep will start all over again before the cycle repeats itself.
