NCAA Tournament
So far it has been an OK, maybe "good" tournament, but far from a great one. While there have been some very good games, there hasn't been one real buzzer beater (Texas A & M did hit a shot at the buzzer to send the Houston game into overtime). There have also been quite a number of blow-outs and many others that did not go down to the wire. There have been some fun upsets, like Oakland and Yale, but not as many as some years. NCSt (11 seed) has been a fun team to follow and root for, but they are a "middling" major not a mid-major. DJ Burns has been amazing and a breath of fresh air. Still it is my favorite sporting event. I hope they don't ruin it by expanding by more than a few more teams. Probably, my second favorite is the World Cup, and they have "cheapened" it by going from 32 teams to 48. A 50% expansion in the NCAA tournament would make the regular season meaningless since, even now, the Big 12 and SEC are getting well more than half their teams in. But like everything else in sports today "it is all about the money".
