RE: Tricia Cullop - Rumors
this will be the first major coach that Blair will have to hire in one of the three major revenue/visibility sports. I guess you could say he re0hired Candle with the extension as he was nearing the contract ending.

How well the AD does with hires is a big part of how successful he is in that position. Should be able to find a lot of good candidates given the attendance levels Toledo's WBB has attracted. Cullop was successful here. The bar needs to remain high.

RE: Tricia Cullop - Rumors
Given the atmosphere she was able to build at Toledo, perhaps some of those visiting assistant coaches from programs like Notre Dame, Michigan, or Duke took note and might be interested.

Yes, bring in a highly regarded P6 assistant coach and not too crazy bringing in a D11 coach, let them prove themselves elsewhere first, other than UT.

What about Coach Ivey? Very impressive national recognition. Listened to her impressive presentation on leadership. Seems very capable of continuing Toledo’s culture.

I want someone who is a proven winner. in her two years as a head coach (Tiffin) she was 11-17 and then finished seventh in the conference.

She inherited a terrible program at Tiffin that had about a .270 overall win percentage the previous 5 years. By all accounts she had the program turned around and headed in the right direction. The year after she left, they went 18-9 overall and 13-8 in conference with mostly her roster. And her team was tops in DII in team GPA to boot.

You can't turn around a bad program in 2 seasons. If that was the metric, imagine what people must have said about Robin Fralick when she went 5-31 her 1st 2 seasons at BG in MAC play.

Ivey was national DII assistant coach of the year when she was at West Florida. She made the WBCA 30-under-30 list. As associate HC at Toledo she had a lot of responsibilities and was one of the reasons Toledo has been so good since she arrived. I do not think she would be a bad choice.

RE: Tricia Cullop - Rumors
Interestingly Tennessee hired the former Glenville State HC, who spent the last year at Marshall - her 1st coaching in DI. I have to admit I did not see that coming.

Just what I said. Someone with a history of winning. She was just one example. She had no history as a head coach.

RE: Tricia Cullop - Rumors
Of the twelve possibilities listed by The Blade, I'm intrigued by the idea of the Cleveland State coach, if he would be interested. If you can succeed at Cleveland State, certainly you can succeed at Toledo. Plus maybe he brings Mikayla Perdue back to Toledo for her final season.

Usually one coach stays behind to try to keep the team, and recruits, together. Total silence on that front. You would think Cullop would support that.

It doesn't really work that way, right? The players have to want to transfer. She can't "take" them with her.

First of all, Miami doesn't need any Toledo players. My guess is that with Cullop's long tenure at UT, she's not encouraging anyone to leave.

Let's all be honest about this...there isn't a player remaining on the roster who is worth a roster spot in the ACC.

I don't think that's true. Tate started for Michigan State this year after following Fralick from Bowling Green. Legette-Jack took three players with her to Syracuse. (And yes, I understand that the coach doesn't own the players and can't take them against their will.) Toledo this past year was better than half the teams in the ACC, so I'm sure we have some players, even beyond Lockett and Wiard, who would do just fine in the ACC. The difference isn't that huge, as shown by the fact that we beat power conference teams all the time.

Don't Garcia, Goss, Noveroske, and Mikonowicz all have another year of eligibility?
