RE: FBS Programs Attractiveness in Realignment
Tony Altimore is garbage. He is a west coast elitist who despises BYU and Liberty and cares only and purely about academics. He blocks anyone who disagrees with him on anything - one of the biggest snowflakes I have ever seen. He deletes people comments and then name calls very unprofessionally. He constantly accuses others of racism and hatred with zero proof. To suggest Liberty is a worse realignment candidate than every MAC and Sun Belt team but one is highly absurd.

Some of his charts I put some credence in, but not this one. He uses KEY BONUS FACTORS and KEY RISKS to make the chart come out the way he wants it to come out. This is the same guy who told everyone the PAC 12 would never fold. He's never right on this type of stuff.

Agree with the previous post. This guy is biased and his analytics sometimes are questionable.

Unless I am missing something he has never worked in the office of any athletic conference.

I would not put much "stock" in this chart. He is just one analyst.

Some of his studies rely on more "hard", tangible numbers and are useful.

BUT--DEFINING Realignment "ATTRACTIVENESS" is Subjective and varies from one conference to another.

You can't "build" a complete model to quantify abstract ideas.

In other words---- You can't use only certain NUMBERS to decide on attractiveness.

Should this be in the Realignment board?

RE: FBS Programs Attractiveness in Realignment
This honestly doesn't look like a terrible assessment. I certainly won't vouch for the source or the methodology (no idea how credible either are), but it probably isn't too far from the average ranking we would come up with if tasked as a group to do so. (And please note that GSU is still in the bottom 30 before getting upset that I'm just happy with where it places us.)

You could probably pick some simple metric like mentions in national sports media and end up with a list pretty close to this. It's kind of like looking at universities based on endowment alone...definitely doesn't tell the whole story, and there are debatable cases (e.g. I'm guessing Liberty is the one folks are going to differ most glaringly over), but it's close enough that you can tell it's way better than random.

Sure the model was set up to get a few results at the top of the pyramid he deemed in his best interest. The others fell where they fell. No a lot of thought went into the G5 ratings or probably the bottom half of the other leagues.

Some look fairly accurate some look way out of place. As long as Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame and Michigan are at the top most will give it some validity as they could careless about the other teams involved in college athletics.

I don't doubt that the G5 schools could use more attention. As for the top of the pyramid, I think most of us would be largely in agreement, with a few surprises (UCLA, Cal) that give away the biases of the method but maybe reflect the goals of university presidents more than we realize. I mean...nobody's spoken a word about UCLA since they made the Final Four years ago (I realize they excel at sports that don't move the needle as much), yet it was their move to the B1G that precipitated the latest round of madness. They weren't just a throw-in with USC.

I'm just happy that Sam Houston is not dead last in FBS HAHA! We just moved up in football and facilities are being upgraded and built to improve our perception. The move up was a university move and not just an athletic department move. Look forward to seeing where we sit in 5-10 years.
