He had a lot of length this season. Its about want to

But they were the opposite of quick. Got to have quickness with length to play Penny's style D. But you are absolutely right there was very little "want to".

Being quick doesn’t mean squat when you are out of position. We leave the weak side corner open all the time. Now Ashton will never be quick. But Pierre and Carl were plenty quick. Penny needs a mix of veteran starters and freshmen thrown in to the 7-8 man rotation if he ever wants to get this turned around. Having a total reboot every year is not good. Eric Musselman learned that this season as well

Not saying you're wrong just haven't seen anything regarding NIL issues. What makes you say that?

Very true. Our defense (really lack thereof) confused the hell out of me. The corner being open is just dudes being lazy and not wanting to run out to defend so I get that is more of an execution flaw then plan in theory.

What I never got is why when a guy would drive from say, the top of key down towards basket whoever was guarding him would purposefully (I'm guessing here) not stay in front of him but rather stay on his hip as if to prevent a dump off pass to a waiting big down low. Ok, that makes some sense, in theory.

The issue is our defender who is guarding the other big would not peel off that big so the guy driving would just have a layup or get fouled when our big defender would react late.

Literally, they all did it every time. It was so baffling and consistent that I had to figure that was how they were coached?

At times we’ve had 3 and 4 defenders crash on the driver

Yup, sometimes it would look like our guys didn't know that once a guy dribbles inside 3 point line the ball can in fact be passed back out. They treated the 3 point line like the friggin halfcourt line. So bizarre.

Well! I’m sure some players were that way in the huddles, mad due to playing time, probably mad that Brown came back and there were probably other situations that we don’t know about.

If its just speculation that's fine I was thinking there was a report or something.

I don't have that kind of money, but if I did I would expect better results for it. Seeing how much these guys are getting already makes me even less likely to donate.

Oh I agree with that. But the poster said "sounds like" - like there is some news out there and not just speculation.

If Penny is indeed coming back, he needs to target Dug McDaniel from Michigan. He entered the portal today. He has to have a point guard next year.

RE: Players Returning
There is apparently no returning core to build around. Next season will likely be as big a crap shoot as every other season has been with Penny.

It takes time to build chemistry and gel which was the problem a couple of earlier seasons - this season was the opposite as it all fell apart late.

Why the heck is it going to get any better with near 100% roster turnover every season? Talent on paper does not seem to translate to results for Penny...

"McDaniel missed six road games due to a suspension tied to academic performance."

In that case, he should fit right in here with the Tigers....03-lmfao
