Maybe we are not going to the CBI
I thought the CIT tournament no longer existed. However, after being cancelled for a couple of years do to Covid, it was restarted in 2022. They did not have the tournament in 2023, but it is coming back this year;

The schedule and bracket for the 2024 CIT will be announced on Sunday, March 17.
Four schools will host four 4-team pods with two semifinals and finale the next day. The 4 winners will advance to the CIT national semifinals to be played on campus sites with the championship game to also be played at the site of the highest remaining seed. The entire field will be seeded 1-16.
The concept behind the 4 Classics is to give players the opportunity to compete for a trophy and advance to the national semifinals. It is also an opportunity to pay homage to some of the legends of coaching. A trophy and MVP award will be presented to the winner of each classic. These were first introduced in 2016.

Interesting set-up. I could see us being in a pod with ASU. Maybe LaTech, UT-Martin, or Missouri State as well. Would be a very compact pod. Could be interesting. No idea what costs to host or if teams that don't host have to pay. I was told we had made a bid for a tournament. I, maybe incorrectly, assumed it was the CBI. I guess we will know in a couple of days.

RE: Maybe we are not going to the CBI
No way I was going to head to Daytona Beach for the CBI tournament in the middle of Spring Break. I did that 50, or so years ago, but not now. Anyway, heading to a 2 game "pod" in Jonesboro, Ruston, etc., if we don't play in Little Rock, would be a lot more manageable.

RE: Maybe we are not going to the CBI
I have seen nothing mentioned, but I wonder if the CIT (or possibly the CBI) might make the decision to take all conference champions that lost in their tournaments and did not make the NCAA or NIT. Seems like that would make sense considering the NIT's snub of mid-majors.

Seems like to might take the CIT, a bit longer to figure out their line-up. The have to figure out their "host" schools and then try to set-up pods that make sense geographically.

RE: Maybe we are not going to the CBI
Looks like the CBI is getting a little desperate. Bethune-Cookman announced they had accepted a bid; Net ranking of 308 and 17-16 record (2 of those wins are non DI).

Folks on the ASU board seemed sure they were hosting a CIT pod. Now, there are some who are saying they are headed to the CBI. Wonder if the CIT is having trouble filling out a bracket. It is certainly a less stable tournament than the CBI.

While I am not thrilled with some of the teams that are heading to the CBI, I am still excited we are making the commitment to go. Let's experience what they have to offer and then we can determine if it is worth partaking in the future.
