Selection committees over the years, in all sports, have usually taken a dim view of weakness of schedule. Teams with weak schedules (according to NET or RPI) and great records are rarely rewarded with a higher seed, thus an "easier" opponent in a first game. In looking at the teams in today's NET ranked between 41-100, which is where most 11-15 seeds come from, James Madison (#52) and McNeese (#56) are the only teams with an SOS in the 300s. When you compare James Madison to others competing for an 11 or 12 seed, I don't see how they beat out teams like South Carolina, Ohio State, Utah, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Washington State or Wake Forest. Every selection committee is different, so I'm not sure how this committee will view them, but I'm thinking the best the Dukes can hope for is a 13 seed, and, because of their SOS and non-conference SOS, 14 is more likely.
I'll bet you a whole whole whole lot of money that JMU isn't a 14 seed. I mean, 23-8 Louisiana with a NET of #89 was a 13 last year.

12 seed. Excellent! And a winnable matchup. I like it.

Our first opponent of the season plays our last opponent of the season...interesting.
JMU vs Duke in the 2nd round would be something.

Man when I saw Duquesne as an 11 I was saying we better be a 10 if they're an 11. Nope, but I'll take a couple W's over Wisconsin and Dook.

Duquesne as a 10 was a joke. Just like UVA. But whatever. I'd much rather send Wisconsin and Duke packing. No guts no glory. LETS GOOOOOOO.

Let’s get it, Dukes! I’m taking my 21 year old son to Vegas for 4 nights on Wednesday. I will for sure lay some money down on y’all. I’m thinking taking y’all money line!
Also, I’ve never gambled on sports in my life. I hardly gamble on table games. Just a father/son trip with some friends and their kids.

Utah, OSU, and Wake aren’t making the tournament. The others you listed will be 8-10 seed range. All of the regular season conference champs losing in their respective tournaments mean the 13-16 lines are gonna be uncharacteristically weak. The 13 line is going to be teams like Yale, Vermont, McNeese, Samford. JMU is comfortably a 12 at this stage with a shot at 11. The Dukes were helped a lot yesterday and Friday.
It ended up being Charleston instead of McNeese of the 13 line. McNeese got a 5. Called everything else.

Vegas is the best place to be for the first 4 days of March Madness. It is sensory overload for basketball fans.
The sportsbooks have the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat all at the same time while final results come in every 15 to 30 minutes on buzzer beaters and upsets.
Enjoy!

RE: What seed will JMU be in the tournament?
The 12 seed was the worst seed JMU was going to get considering the number of late Conference tourney champion bid stealers, but some of those last at-large teams in got better seeds. Weird and not really explicable, but the Dukes will get their shot in NYC which is less than 4 hours from the epicenter of our Alumni base in DC.
About 5 1/2 hours for students coming from campus.
You really can’t ask for much more to set the table.
I think Wisconsin pooped their pants a little when they saw the matchup. No cupcake for them.

I'm actually kind of disappointed for JMU though having to play in Brooklyn. NYC isn't the nicest of locations for the fans to have to go to these days and it is a very high-priced area as well. At least the fans won't have to go out to the west coast.

What seed will JMU be in the tournament?
Lucky for JMU we have a large alumni base in that area. So hopefully they turn out in mass.

In fairness to Wisconsin, they had just finished playing in their conference championship game which they lost. I'm sure that was still at least partly on their minds since it had only been an hour or two.

Selfishly I really wanted Charlotte or Pittsburgh because I think I probably could've swung it for round 1. Brooklyn is the next best though, I think there'll be a great JMU crowd. Bummed I won't be able to be part of it, but I'm glad it's not out west where we won't get nearly as many fans. Our guys deserve a good crowd
Also glad we hit Friday/Sunday cause I've got something I was hoping not to have to miss on Saturday.

That makes me happy :)

Brooklyn's arena is really nice, lotta flights out of DC/RIC/ORF for any Virginia living dukes, and it's an easy road trip if you don't wanna fly. Honestly if it were ODU instead of JMU I would have been hoping for Brooklyn. Pittsburgh and Charlotte are the only other ones that would be somewhat easy.

Don't know why anyone would fly or drive to NYC from VA. Take the train the entire way up on Friday and then you can work remotely and not have to take PTO.

Oh yea taking the Northeast Corridor is good too. My place of work doesn't have WFH but if that's an option for you take it! I take it less to NY due to it taking longer (there's a long stop/transfer at DC) and from Norfolk there's less frequency
