Moser to Depaul?
"Heard all the rumors this afternoon and want to say emphatically THERE IS ZERO TRUTH!! I LOVE Oklahoma and Sooner Nation," Moser said

To me, it sounds like he is as good as gone.

RE: Moser to Depaul?
It does sound like Coachspeak. The average sports fan in Oklahoma cares NOTHING about basketball untill he is forced to after the Super Bowl. It has been a while since they were good, but DePaul has a rich tradition and is the sort of program that Porter could come into and do what he did following Sidney at Little Rock. And they care about basketball at DePaul.

We remember the historic Depaul teams with Coach Meyer (and then his son), but they have been awful for years.

That is why I think Porter could go in there and resurrect the program and be an instant hero in a school that actually cares about basketball. And he is a midwestern guy, anyway, with Illinois connections to help with recruiting. With the money he has made, that should be irrelevant. Getting to restore a storied program to health would be a fun project, I would think. And, like you said, DePaul has been bad for long enough that he would not be under any immediate pressure. It sounds like a no-lose proposition to me.

RE: Moser to Depaul?
I'm not as sure as you guys that he's going there. Even though it hasn't been perfect this year, this season has been his best at Oklahoma and his team has a good shot at going dancing. I say he stays for at least another year and if it ain't a good year, he's fired anyways. There's also a risk of going to DePaul. They haven't been good in a looooong time in a hard conference. It'll be a hard job and if unsuccessful, could bring him right back down to mid-major or p5 assistantship and I'm not sure he wants that.

I don't necessarily believe he is going to Depaul. I was just making the point that when a coach "emphatically" denies interest in another job, he is probably lying. Whether he takes that other job is a different question.

Maybe it is time for him to leave now, before he is pushed out. 3 straight years at OU without an NCAA tournament bid. I know, Pappy, it's a football school but they still like to win in basketball.

Never mind-

Former Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann has been named the next men's head basketball coach at DePaul, the school announced on Tuesday. The deal for Holtmann to lead the Blue Demons program runs for six years, sources told CBS Sports.
