RE: SMU on Senior Day
JD was already bad at fouling, but it seems like he has regressed. Some of the fouls I see him pick up now, I wonder if he is even trying not to foul. It’s like he’s given up.

I hope we have a shot at his little brother who was in the house for senior day. i bet the NIL money is going to be too much to get him though.

I’ve never seen somebody as foul prone as Davis. He has fouled out six times this season. He also finished with four fouls in five other games, and three fouls in 11 games. In other words, Davis had at least three fouls in 22 of the 31 games.
SMU paid a lot of attention to our bigs yesterday afternoon. Just about every time our bigs got the ball down low, they double teamed them. That leaves somebody open, but too often we couldn’t find the open man.
Yeah they were causing some havoc with the double teams in the post and were also really good at closing out the rotations off it. Helps with the officiating is such that they allow hammering the post if he tries to go through the double. For a while Sunday, the refs were letting both teams commit homicide lol.
JD commits too many fouls but he also is over officiated IMO. Sunday refs were letting absolute mugging go but called JD with a couple of ticky tacks in the middle of the carnage. That happens at least once per game with him. Litterally a touch foul on JD in between bodies going to the morgue on the possessions before and after.

JD has had some good games for us and has clearly stepped it up this season. I’m not focusing on one game. We will need him to win in Ft Worth.
Yes about JD. I'd love to bring in a similar player next season. A 6'6-6'8 250 pound guy that plays 10-15 minutes a game, gets 6 points, 6 rebounds, and uses his 5 fouls knocking opponents around. As far as officiating the other day, it matched the game. Not a thing of beauty. I know that one ref pretty much called everything in favor of SMU after their coach chewed him a new one about 8 minutes into the game.
