Miami at Oklahoma softball game today
So Miami has won the MAC 3 years in a row and we have ( I think) 4 NCAA wins over that time and last year lost the Regional Championship game by 1 run when we left the bases loaded as the game ended and we had last at bats. Oklahoma scheduled a home and home with us and they visited Oxford last year. We put in a bunch of temporary bleachers and sold tickets and had an SRO crowd. Oklahoma run ruled us 13-1. Today Oklahoma opened a new stadium and had an SRO Crowd of over 5,000.
Miami had started out 9-2 ( all on the road, both losses to top 25 teams, and we lead the nation in home runs. Oklahoma has won 6 National Championships in 10 years and the last 3 in a row. They were 15-0 and ranked #1. They owned a 67 game home field winning streak.
We have most of our lineup back, but an all new pitching staff, transfer portal and freshmen. We were leading the nation in Home Runs. We scored 3 in the first on a walk and back to back home runs. We never got another hit until the 7th, but did have 8 walks and a HBP and stole a couple of bases so we were threatening. They scored one run 3 times and it was 3-3 going into the 6th inning. Oklahoma then got a walk, a single, and back to back HR's to take a 7-3 lead. You would think it was over, but we opened the top of the 7th with a single and then back to back to back home runs. We got another player on second with one out but failed to get her in. A walk and a walk off homer in the bottom of the 7th game Oklahoma their 68 straight home win. Miami hit 5 more home runs. I think we are up to 40 in 12 games. Game was on ESPN+.

That is awesome - Miami looks to be really good again.

Senior 3B Karli Spaid broke the all time career MAC home run record this weekend. She now has 77 homers. This year she has 13 so far which leads the nation. She has been close to the lead in each of the last two seasons. Just looking at her, she is not a big girl, looks like an average college girl. Ball jumps off her bat though.

Karli Spaid homered in all 3 games in a sweep of WM last week and now leads the nation with 18 homers. She is also tied for 6th on the all time NCAA HR list.
