Coming up, those teams don’t have a midweek game. So the pressure is on us to beat Wichita St to join the 11-4 party.

Anyways, good win after some sloppiness early. Yax was his usual self but Coleman was really good in the first half and JD in the second. We are so much better when we work inside. Hopefully Ortiz found some confidence in his shot today that will carry over.

No, the game isn’t discussed good and bad. The game is discussed bad, and that goes for football too.

And none of y’all know we have baseball or softball so that evens out.

Also, if there was something spectacular being done, it’d be mentioned as part of the good. Good in regards to us is doing the routine stuff like you are supposed to do. Do we give pats on backs for doing the routine stuff?

Temple got a dub at Wichita state in OT today. Guess we have to take them serious up there, too.

Speaking of UAB baseball, jeepers! Had a 7-0 lead and lost 14-7.

Outscored them 44-26 in the paint.
Outrebound them 39-24
21 assists on 30 made baskets
Big 3 account for 46 points
Yax and JD had 9 of our 14 turnovers

Neither Wichita State or Temple are very good this year, but we now know UAB can't take any team for granted, at home or on the road. It would be nice if we can put on a clinic Wed night and win pretty easily, but that probably won't happen.

As an aside, it would be great for this conference if WSU and Temple can turn good again.

He'll just be welcomed back under a new screen name.

Other observations:

1. ChrisCo played well again. No minutes for Shaver.

2. Eric Gaines reverted to good hair, yet still played well (5 assists, ZERO turnovers, a steal and a block). That block/snag in mid-air was unreal.

These are my observations.

Eric also made his free throws down the stretch. Zero turnovers is unreal.

The ESPN commentator that loves AK was saying he thought EG was in the dog house in the 2nd half and wasn’t playing that much? I didn’t get to see a lot of the second half. Did that seem to be true? I agree it seems like he had a good game without scoring much or taking a lot of shots, which we don’t need him to do.

RE: Tulane Green Wave
I felt it interesting no minutes for Shaver when JD got into foul trouble quickly. I think that was probably a matchup thing more so than anything against Shaver (who played well recently). Tulane is smallish but athletic so it made sense to go with more minutes for Coleman, especially if you are going to run the 1-3-1 a lot.

Played 26 mins. I don’t know if he was in the dog house, but I remember thinking he sat a lot (before the commentators mentioned it)
