RE: G5 left trying to survive
The breakaway is inevitable and there will eventually be a playoff that we will never be a part of. The question is, how exclusive will this new playoff be? Personally, I'm in favor of the G5 ADs and commissioners to get ahead of this and start thinking of some type of G5 playoff/championship in the very near future. Its going to happen, so we might as well be prepared.
The bigger question I have is what happens to the NCAA tournament. The Power conferences already want more access (for themselves) but I don't see them excluding the smaller conferences completely because that's part of the appeal.

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it. If we're going to treat college players like professionals, then let's treat them like professionals. Sign them to contracts, just like NFL players. If you sign with UAB, it's probably because no SEC team wanted you. And if you turn out to be a stud, well UAB has the rights to your time, and UAB gets the benefit of finding a gem. Kinda like Brock Purdy. San Francisco found a gem at literally the last pick of the draft, and he's contractually bound to play for the Niners for the term of that contract. That's professional football.

I agree with this. Would cut out a lot of the roster management headaches and needing a robust NIL just to retain your top talent.

This is the one major chip the non power-conferences hold. If they pull away from us elsewhere, we need to pull away here. We have nowhere near the strength in power and money, but we do still have the numbers.

This, I also considered the idea of when you signed with a school, they signed you to a non-compete clause for a year after playing for you. But completely agree with, you wanna be paid, and unionize, well there needs to be rules to protect everyone, including the schools.
