MyBB North Texas Mean Green
North Texas (69) at UAB (118), Sunday 18 February 2024

KenPom has it UAB 66 - North Texas 67

The Mean Green are 14-10 overall and 7-5 in the AAC. They are 5-5 over the last 10 games. UAB won at UNT 82-79 in OT, back on Jan. 31st. North Texas is 3-6 on the road.

Their schedule has been brutal of late, as of those last 10 games, 7 have been against the upper-level teams in the conference.

The trend of the away team winning in this matchup boggles the mind.

Will UNT have all of their starters back?

Reuben Jones and CJ Noland did not play Thursday night in their solid win vs Memphis.
Jason Edwards and John Buggs went 11/14 from 3point range. You could hear Hardaway yelling "same play, same play" all night.

Those 2 guys, Edwards and Buggs went 3/13 against the Blazers. Luck or defense?

Both. We did play better defense against them in Denton but they also missed some open looks.

Me too. Both teams are really strong at home in general. It’s really quite bizarre.

Let's hope the streak doesn't reach ten games.

I think the streak ended last season in Denton double OT

That's right. I know I saw somewhere after our win in Denton this year that the road team had now won nine straight. But you are correct. We lost both regular season games to them last season, at Bartow AND at their place. We beat them in the semi's of the C-USA tournament to advance to the finals, then lost to them in the NIT finals. So we played them four times last year, and went 1-3. But you are right, that streak was broken last year in Denton.

RE: North Texas Mean Green
We lost a mistake ridden game to them in double OT last year in Denton at full strength.

They blew us out at home sans jelly where we didn’t even put up a fight.

We hung on for a close win in the CUSA tournament when we were initially beating the brakes off them (sound familiar)?

We lost another pretty sloppy game in the NIT finals where we came out with lackluster energy to start and got hosed on multiple missed shot clock violation calls.

This one will be very tough tomorrow. I was very impressed by their team when they played Memphis; and they were down two starters.

They look like they actually run an offense this year, instead of holding the ball for 28 seconds and then passing to Madea for a last second shot.

RE: North Texas Mean Green
They had a couple of official malfeasances of the shot clock rules in that NIT championship game last year, to their benefit!

RE: North Texas Mean Green
Only reason I knew we blew the streak was a UNT fan. The broadcast the other week said it over and over and it was wrong haha
