All of the Louisiana schools, even Southern-BR, play "good" baseball. Amateur baseball (Little League thru American Legion) is huge in Louisiana so there is a lot of homegrown talent to choose from. McNeese is always tough on their homefield in Lake Chuck. We have struggled down there often.

I have a lot of respect for any Louisiana baseball program. UL, Tulane, LT, LSU, and McNeese have all had really good baseball teams in the past. I haven't ever checked out Southern baseball but if you were to tell me it was good then I believe you. Everyone is aware of the talented college baseball teams that exist in Texas but not many are aware of just how good those Louisiana schools are.

NMSU breaks their 6 game losing streak with a 11-6 win over Northern Colorado. They lost all 4 to McNeese. That does not bode well for the games vs La Tech.

Kats take down St. Johns today 12-8 setting up the rubber match for Sunday. LT is looking really good this year. Flames had a close one with #22 Coastal Carolina today falling in a 8-7 final score.

WKU beats West Virginia today 4-3 to split the four game series 2-2.

Tech, Dallas Baptist series is gonna be epic in April. I already got my tickets for the series.

NMSU with two more wins over Northern Colorado - 19-11 and 22-12. Northern Colorado pitching must be really bad. One more game on Monday against Northern Colorado. They are 5-6 right now.

Currently 3 CUSA teams ranked in the Mid Major Power Ranking:
1. Dallas Baptist (Also ranked #25 in D1baseball.com poll and #17 in College Baseball Nation Poll)
16. Louisiana Tech
19. Sam Houston (Was ranked #24 in College Baseball Nation Poll but dropped out this week after dropping yesterday's game against St. John's in extra innings)

DBU and Louisiana Tech are both red-hot currently. WKU had a good showing against WVU. My Bearkats (8-4) look to get back on track against a strong UH squad (7-4) on Tuesday night.

Edit: D1baseball.com now has DBU at #20 in the country.

CUSA is right in the thick of things with other baseball "Power" conferences. And that is with it still being too early in the season for ratings to really take shape. Baseball and basketball aren't apples to apples by any stretch, but for comparisons sake we have 14 Q1 wins in baseball so far. We have 0 Q1 wins in basketball. This league will continue to be a force on the diamond.
