Black National Anthem
I understand there was a bit of discussion about having this at the SB. I didn't get to watch until halftime, so I missed it. But I do have some questions about it.
But before we start, I have to say that I am NOT enraged. Puzzled, yes. I am sure there are some people somewhere that are enraged, just as there are some somewhere who are enraged over anything, but I am not one of them nor do I know anybody who is.
First question: Does every subgroup in the US have its own national anthem? What is the one for Hispanics? Vietnamese-Americans? Do Apaches and Navajos and other tribes share the same national anthem or do they have separate ones? Does Canada also have separate black and white NAs? Do the french speakers have their own?
I think this is usually defended by the left, who is supposedly the party of inclusion and unity. Doesn't seem very unifying or inclusive to me to have a separate National Anthem. I guess this might be a case of separate but equal.
Will this evolve to the point at which we will have 20-something national anthems before each game? Including, maybe, one for 20-somethings?
Will we have to rewrite the Pledge, taking out the words "one nation"?
At the World Series of Poker, when they present the Championship bracelets, they play the winner's national anthem. I wonder if now we will have ask which one is to be played for each winner.
The whole thing seems illogical to me. Sorry if this ruffles some feathers (enrages somebody?) but if somebody wants to explain the logic to me, I am willing to listen.
