I’d be shocked if Shaver leaves. He dealt with a medical issue he didn’t know existed related to his growth he experienced. That’s why he’s out of shape and looks rough. AK speaks too highly of him and o don’t see where he’d go that would be better

Is the 2 time transfer waiver without sitting out still a thing? If not, it's harder to see guys transfer out that have already used their one free transfer.

I think something happened recently that grants 2 free transfers but no clue. Regardless Shaver has essentially been hurt 3 straight season I wouldn’t leave

Last I heard is the ncaa is appealing and if they win they will not honor the second transfer any player has made during that time. I don’t think anything is 100% official yet.

We’re in year 18 of this slump, as of now we aren’t dancing. Maybe that changes in March.

We were conference champ(aka Regular season champs) 1 time in that span. That’s a 5-6% success rate.
We won the conference tournament 2 times. 11% success rate

We made the NCAA tournament 3 times: 16% success rate

Now consider the lack of competition within our leagues over that span and consider the refusal to schedule tough noncon slates outside of 3-4 Mike Davis seasons.

I actually demand better than those percentages. That should embarrass the older folks. The younger folks don’t know the history.

We were once a basketball school. Now I don’t know what we are.
Regular Season Champs in 2011 and 2016
Tournament Champs 2015 and 2022

We’re definitely a basketball & football school. Maybe you should spend more time being productive at work instead of camping out on X & BT? Lol

So, regular season champs. 2 out of 18 years. big % increase. I forgot about 2016, as I’m sure many have. That’s why I say Reg season champ should get NCAA tournament auto bid.

I don’t think anyone would be super happy with the number of championships and tournaments. Some of that is beyond UAB control (at large bids).

But again, of similarly resourced schools who are in the group of 5, please tell me who has been significantly better. I will save you the trouble. The answer is hardly anyone. Memphis isn’t similarly resourced. Houston wasn’t. Louisville wasn’t. Cincinnati wasn’t. And they have moved up.

San Diego State yes. They have been better in that stretch, but not better over the entire run of UAB basketball. UNLV is. What’s their mark?

UAB with all this supposed underachievement is easily one of the top 5 programs left in the group of 5 historically and easily in the top 10 during the period you reference.

That’s a really tough thing to argue for or against. If we are using historically you start bringing up a lot of history and teams into the equation.(wku and UTEP for instance). You had some flash in the pan teams like FGCU and Loyola Chicago in recent years. You have had some consistently really good teams that just haven’t had a lot to show for it.(UNT and as much as it pains me to say it, La Tech). It’s almost always an apples and oranges comparison of some sort.

UAB is one of the better G5 programs for sure, and hasn’t had a lot of rough patches in its history. I don’t think many programs out there have had as few down years as UAB has. You can ask ten different people and get 10 wildly varying opinions I’m sure.
