Kent State vs. Western Michigan
The Golden Flashes welcome the Broncos of Western Michigan University to the MAC Center on Tuesday for a conference game with big time implications. The MAC Standings currently look like this...
Akron 9-1
Toled0 8-2
CMU 8-2
BGSU 6-4 (beat Ohio earlier this season)
Ohio 6-4
Miami 5-5
WMU 5-5
Kent State 4-6 (beat Ball State earlier this season)
Ball St. 4-6
EMU 2-8
NIU 1-8
Buffalo 1-8
For years now standings analysis has been countered with the old...."all you need to worry about is playing well for three nights in Cleveland." Not so much this year as the Golden Flashes are one of three teams (maybe four if you count EMU) vying for two spots in the MAC Tournament. Lots could happen over the course of the next month. However, this is a home game against a run of the mill MAC team that is just ahead of Kent in the standings and is coming in losers of three in a row.
GO FLASHES!

Looks like a tight one at the MAC Center. Come on VCD, Payton and Gio….take em home.

W. Nice!
and an overall good night. Who can beat Akron? If such a team exists, they win the MAC.
Big one next week vs. NIU. A must win for KSU.
Go Flashes!!

My thoughts... Two bad teams played 40 minutes of bad basketball. Still winning ugly is funnier than losing pretty.
Sullinger played the best on ball defense I think I've ever seen him play.
Sullinger's clock management at the end was really really bad. WMU nor fouling their was equally dumb.
Payton had flashes of looking really aggressive and confident again. Wasn't a whole game, but showed signs.

I'm glad Ohio beat Ball State (in OT). As long as KSU has a better record than Ball State they pretty much have a MAC tournament seed.

VCD played really well I thought. He got us through some really rough offensive stretches. I feel like offense needs to be running through him in the mid range. Hornbeak had a rough night.

How exactly is a rainbow made? How exactly does the sun set? How exactly does the posi trac rear end on a Plymouth work? No body knows.

At Miami game last Tuesday freeman got pulled 1 minute into 2nd half said something to Sendy who pointed him towards lockerroom. Freeman was gone for ~5 minutes of game time and then reappeared as hasn’t seen the floor since.
Kid has shown flashes but largely inconsistent and at times weak physically. Shame as if right I think he could play 3 spot and make us bigger as we are woefully small. He’s been at 3 schools in 4 years so unless something changes he may be adding to that list.

Almost unwatchable last night. Definitely the worst KSU team I can remember watching since the mid-seventies. We have one exceptional player (Sullinger), a few slightly above average players (VCD, Payton and Gio) and a bunch of nothing after that. I still love ‘em and watch ‘em but it ain’t pretty!

Mid-70s is an exaggeration. They're better than the mid-90s teams. Still, it's possible, though not certain, they could end up being the worst KSU team since the mid-90s.

You might be right. The DJ Bosse / Brooke Bright led teams weren’t very good but I enjoyed watching them play more than this years team

Good point, Old Man Flash. "Watchability" and how good a team is are often different. Many of the teams I have the fondest memories of over the decades weren't necessarily the best teams.
