Originally, USM was scheduled to play at Ohio State and Kentucky was scheduled to play at Akron. Instead, OSU/UK orchestrated a swap: USM plays at UK and Akron travels to OSU.

USM will get checks from UK and Ohio State for 950k each.

The last time Southern Miss played at Kentucky was in 2016. Jay Hopson's very first game as HC as Southern Miss. We trailed 35-10 just before halftime and came back to win the game 44-35.

And that was the highlight of the Jay Hopson tenure.

That worked out very nice!

Wasn't the rumor that our OC started reading Kentuckys defensive play calling? Since he coached their the prior few years?

Then we should stop scheduling them. Let them go 7-5 or worse playing an all p5 schedule and see how their fans like that. 6-6 home/away schedules with all games being one for one when scheduled should have been mandated a long time ago and definitely by the time the playoffs became a thing. Teams get eligible for the playoffs with 8 home games on their schedule. That's ridiculous. They want to break off from us, but it is us that should want to break off from them. Set up equitable rules and restore amateur status to the sport. I have to believe there is a market for that. Everyone complains about the way it is right now.

I don't think its impossible to get an SEC home game in the future, its just unlikely unless that opponent is named Vanderbilt or Miss State.

I like this game. Anytime you can get an SEC game on the schedule within a 10 hr drive that isn’t against Bama, Georgia or Vandy you gotta take it.
