Without having read the article yet, I have to admit that the thought of the Tigers not making the tourney crossed my mind once I realized that a similar discussion is currently swirling around Gonzaga. I remain optimistic, however.

Ole Miss is now listed as last 4 in.

Gonzaga as first 4 out.

Goodman is trying to be a combination of Wolken/Dakich. He is trolling Tigers fans because he knows that gets him clicks.

Past years you've been a RPI guy. What changed? Oh wait - Tigers #7 in RPI.

Also #17 in KPI and #29 in SOR - which are just as important as NET.

but you do you

Past few years RPI has been barely mentioned because it is no longer a part of the evaluation process.

It is you who suddenly changed and started pushing it because it could be spun as a positive.

RPI doesn't include our loss to Tulane.

SOR has us an 8 seed.

However bracketology has us a 6.

Your paranoia is borderline psychotic.

You're actually showing traits of a cult member.

Reported.
Nonetheless, there is no paranoia in what I posted. Everyone here knows you by now.

We would be safely in obviously if the tourney started today... but if we lose to UAB this week, the national conversation will turn to us dropping from being ranked 10th to being on the bubble and the possibility of us not getting in.

Understandable.

While we are focusing now on potential losses this season, which is understandable - as well others above us will drop games as well - so we should be a top 25 team and hopefully more

I foresee another year of bubble anxiety. I'd love to be wrong, but this isn't playing out that different from other seasons.

The biggest difference this year is a lot of other teams have lost games. That gave us a way up the rankings as much as our performance.

With continued inconsistent and occasionally awesome play, we'll probably get in by the skin of our teeth.

Nearly every top team has lost one or more games that they should not have lost. I'm not sure I remember a season where this has happened. There is not one team that isn't immune to being bounced early from the tournament. We have just as good a shot now of advancing as we did 2 months ago. It's going to be a bumpy ride for everybody.

Very similar to Larry. Larry only had two seasons with less than 10 losses. But he did have a couple of good runs in the NCAA

His best team started pre-season #8 and got rolled by Western Kentucky in the first round, Penny's last year.

His best team might have been his first team that beat Louisville three times, 64-48 @ lou, 58-57 @ home and 75-52 for the conference championship in 87 and left the cards out of the tourney. Finished 26-8.

It is different from other seasons in that we won big in the OOC and have been ranked most of the season.
Other seasons we gave things away early and had to fight our way back.
I hope the stretch is similar to other seasons, though, because Penny's teams tend to get better and improve their metrics in the 2nd half of the season.

The be fair the David Vaughn injury played a massive role in that.

That was a top 10 team with Vaughn in the lineup. Particularity the pre injury Vaughn that ran the floor like a deer and a monster. He literally ran the floor better than any 6-9/6-10 player in the nation. He was such a perfect match with Penny and Billy Smith.

The post injury Vaughn was much more of a classic half court big man.

He actually tore his knee on a fast break, I think it mentally changed his game a lot.

RE: Tigers will be fine
Doom and gloom.

Or another perspective...

We got a 20-point lead against USF and then started going through the motions trying to get out of there. USF kept playing and before we knew it we were in a dogfight, with no home crowd in the building to feed energy. We took a bad loss by 1-point. But Quad 3 - not Quad 4.

We then went to Tulane - which is a bad matchup with their style of play and zone defense - who has had our number in recent years. It's also a quirky gym with a soldout crowd and a carnival show on the sideline. We were a 4-pt favorite and we lost Walton for the entire second half. So now the perimeter is down Mills and Walton against a decent zone D. We lost by 2 pts and took a Quad 2 loss. By itself, no real big deal.

We need to get Quinerly's head back right and figure out our D.

We will be fine.

Well Vaughn's going out for the season in the 1st game was a big part of that. The other is that we had 0 depth.. thats why Cincy beat us by 31 in the Elite 8 the year before... with Hardaway in foul trouble we werent fielding a top 50 team.

We had no depth because Finch didn’t trust Marcus Nolan after he took that last shot vs DePaul

I remember we had two big name recruits to replace Madlock... Anthony Goldwire and Covington Cormier (sp?) but we had to settle on Sidney Coles. I remember after we lost Vaughn, sometime midseason we got labeled Penny and the puppets. Some opposing coach said take Penny off the team and we were basically S. Miss. ouch

Your memory is better than mine, so I'll take your word for it.
It's a bit of a silly statement though,
"Take your AA off the team and you're not nearly as good."
Well, duh.

The 93 team still had Billy Smith and Anthony Douglass. I wouldn’t call either of them puppets. But the next year they were all gone and we had a losing record.
