This is a great hire. Has HC and coordinator experience.

I think this is the right and definitely smartest hire for USA. Promoting the assistant isn't always the best move, but I think in this case with Applewhite, he has previous HC experience, and has been at Texas & Alabama. Plus, seems like he has the support of the players.

The players always want the interim.

This seems like a better HC hire than Kane Wommack, honestly.

He's already proven he can win.

He was 15-10 at Houston, won an AAC division title, was 2-1 against Top 25 opponents, and 2-2 against P5 schools.

His bowl record wasn't very impressive though. I think the absolute drubbing Houston took from Army in their bowl got Applewhite prematurely fired... but Houston was improving under his leadership.

Good hire....but I wanna know when will Applewhite get promoted to at least a Lt. Colonel or Brig. General? Been a Major for a long time.....

Good hire. I am still aggravated USA stole him from us when he was supposed to come with Butch as his OC.

As a fan/alumni of a school who was put in a similar situation, you hired from within and not some guy 4 years from retirement that will berate the players because they weren't up to his sense of "SEC talent".
