Kirk Herbsteet being an Ahole again
Watching college game day and his opinion is to get rid of all the bowls except the NIT format for next year. The new format will only benefit the best teams. MAC teams would have little chance of playing after the end of season. The players on these teams deserve a bowl experience as much as the Georgia's and Alabama's of the world. Being the Ahole he is. Rich get richer.

RE: Kirk Herbsteet being an Ahole again
What he actually is saying is the other bowl games are like the NIT basketball tournament in which nobody cares about and he is right! The college playoffs are like the ncaa basketball tournament in that it’s the only thing that anyone cares about. Most teams including NIU losses lots of money going to these bowl games. I don’t know what if there is a way to fix college football bowl season but it’s at a crossroads.

Tons of empty seats at the Wisconsin vs LSU game. Right know gambling is the saving grace for college football

If "nobody cared" they wouldn't exist.
Evidence "NIU losses lots of money going to these bowl games". It must be money NIU already has since it didn't stop the football team from going to the bowl game. Oh, and it is loses not "losses". NIU grad?

Certainly expected from this clown and agree with you about teams deserving bowl games.

You raised your children with the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality.

I am one of the few that only has interest on NIU and mid major bowls. I do not have any interest in the playoff unless NIU is in it.

Wouldn't the 12th place playoff team fall into that mentality? Who is to say exactly where the "deserving" and underserving line is? You could argue that only conference champs are deserving...but then you have teams like Georgia who are still better than all the other conf champs.

Elduderino, most athletic depts are losing money and are staying afloat by being subsidized by student fees. Going to bowl games is expensive and if you’re required to purchase tickets then even more so. I personally want bowl games because it gives kids another chance to put on their uniform and play a game with their teammates. I did not find anything Kirk said not to be true.

Squirrel, why would the 12th team to make the playoffs next year be the same thing? The tournament will consist of only 12 teams just like march madness only consist of a set amount of teams.

We'd only judge them as worthy bc thats what the rules are...12 teams. So thats no different than the rule that 6 wins gets a bowl game. The baseline is different but the principal is the same. You go into the season knowing the rules and thus its a goal.
The basketball/football tourney comparisons are a bit apples to oranges. 64 teams covers everyone. Thus the NIT basketball tourney is kind of dumb. The 12 team football playoff still leaves some potentially deserving teams left out. So football NIT IMO is much more valuable. You could even invite the FCS champion, though im sure that would be a mess.

13-0 liberty would have been left out. So no, 12 does not cover everyone.

Every team will start the season eligible for the playoffs just like march madness and some good teams will be left out just like march madness

If you’re #66 in the country you’re not being left out of anything. Undefeated G5 teams will miss the 12 team playoff. No undefeated basketball teams are missing the big dance.
Only 6 conference champs get automatic bids. So only 1G5 champ in other words. After that it’s the next 6 highest ranked. So a couple SEC and B1G teams and a pac or big12 team.

It’s simple supply and demand. The only restriction is the NCAA rule that teams have to be 6-6 or 5-7 if there are open spots.

No, but there is a segment.
Personally, I go all in on NIU and then after that is over, I'm all in on the CFP.
