Yesterday UNI watched tape that NIU was playing man on inbounds play under opposing basket and has not defended that well at all so they put everybody on the free throw line and had players picking each other and cutting to the basket for open looks. It makes no sense why they leave the basket unprotected. It reminds me of them switching with Coit so he is guarding a big down low for those few games. That made no sense. Everybody is complaining about UNI backing down our bigs. How about posting up Konan and let him go to work. Konan has had more talent than every center we have played but we bring him up to set screens and stand around the three point line. I think it would make sense to get his butt down on the block and make the others get it inside to him. He can go to work or kick it back out hopefully for an open look. The offense is basically one on one moves with to much dribbling versus actually running an offense and moving the ball by passing. This team has more talent than any team here in a long time. We need to make adjustments because everyone has figured out what we were doing really well against DePaul and App State. Not getting players out of the game due to foul trouble is inexcusable.

Can't argue with any of your points.

Regarding, getting Amos out with 4 fouls. When he got the foul, the camera went directly to Burno and he told Konan Niederhäuser to go in and he did. But the game started back up.

Now, I've heard some complaints about the officiating and I wonder, with him going to the scorers table, why didn't the refs waive him in? I also don't recall hearing a horn and that is on the scoreboard operator.

Honestly, I didn't feel like Burno waited too long on it either. Right after the foul, he told Konan to go in and he got up and went to the table but they didn't allow the substitution.

I've been perplexed with that the entire time.

And...not for nothing but...that bald ref called the 4th foul on Amos and was the one who went to the scorers table to signal the foul, then the ref rotation puts him closest to the scorers table as they set up for the next series of plays. I know is sounds a little conspiracy theory-ish, but....I'm just saying.

t happened after Amos' second foul as well in the first half They bring in Harvin for Amos and Konan takes himself out of the game and Amos played another minute. Konan should have realized that Amos picked up his second foul and Harvin was coming in for Amos but ultimately it is the coaching staff that should have recognized it. I feel that the problem is they are complaining to the refs so much they are not taking care of business. The refs are not going to change the call. You get your player out of the game and yell at the refs after the change has been made.

Margin for error is so small with so many guys out injured....Lovemesomewatts in concussion protocol, hopefully good for Iowa...Butler was missed-not dressed due to injury..Williams done for the year....Philbin dribbles too much hunting HIS shot and got pulled for missing defensive assignments...too often not getting to helpside..was great to see Nebraska transfer showing why he was power 5 recruit and he can D up.

Why don't they just announce it if Williams is out for season? Whatever it was is a freak injury because it's not like he fell or got twisted up. He barely played.

I’m betting Williams never plays again at NIU. I’ve been saying don’t count on him when he started the season on the bench. Hopefully coach can keep his players but I get the feeling there will be several transfers next year. They have guys that can score but not consistently like Coit and Williams do

I'm not doubting you but, do you have a source?

As it stands, we only have 1 scholarship to give. If, as you may believe...and I'm not doubting..., Williams is done at NIU, that means he's going to transfer. Actually, I highly doubt he transfers if he misses a 2nd straight year with an injury. His best option at playing is NIU. Period. But lets entertain the idea he does. I also bet Russell transfers.

So, that gives us 3 scholarships (in reality, I think 2 unless someone like Amos or Konan Niederhäuser transfer, which...is a very real possibility).

Nevertheless...the transfer portal is the reality of the future (as long as federal judges keep neutering the NCAA) so not only should the portal not be feared, it should also be embraced.

The portal is embraced! Especially by teams that are close to being good- great. A program like NIU cannot afford to continue to have 7-9 new guys every year and lose a couple of their best players. I also hate seeing guys be able to transfer to other MAC teams.
