When I asked, they said based on the success of the event they may try to make it an annual thing. Based on the amount of bottles that were purchased I'd say it was a success. I wouldn't be surprised if they sold 500 bottles in those 2 hrs. That's $29k of liquor sold in a short period.

Nice to hear.

Is this product not available at the distillery?

Ugh...I was going to pick one up but am less inclined to figure out a time to get to the visitor's center when it's open.

I don't think that's how aged spirits work.

Hah, I'm assuming they're white labeling their normal product, no?

Was this a special batch/recipe?

That was my understanding...but I could be wrong.

RE: Whiskey Acres
I called Whiskey Acres and there is plenty of inventory left, but it is first come first serve for pick up at the distillery only. I have a son graduating this Sunday so planning on stopping by for a bottle or two. Hope it will still be available.

My experience with Whiskey Acres products is that they are fine. They aren't great but fine and drinkable.

My wife is a rye drinker and she isn't a fan but we have a few bottles of their stuff in the house we got as christmas gifts and I'm pretty much the one who will drink them.

They do have a walnut whiskey or something that pairs great in some eggnog though.

But I do plan to try and grab a bottle of this just because I think its cool and I'm sure the product will be decent.

But as for local distillers, they aren't in my top 3 but they're not trash either. And their site is pretty cool.

That does sound pretty good.

The wife and I went to Illumination at the Morton Arboretum this past weekend and they have stations around where you can get coffee and hot chocolage and whatnot because it's cold and they also have booze you can add to it like Bailey's and others.

They had a drink on there that had the Whiskey Acres Walnut Liquor so I asked if instead of Bailey's, they could put the WA Walnut in my hot chocolate. The old lady thought for a second and then said....sure.

It wasn't too bad. It's better in egg nog but this was pretty good too.

Stopped by the Whiskey Acres distillery earlier tonight. Picked up a few bottles. Inventory is running low, for those of you interested in getting a bottle or two, I’d get out there sooner rather than later.

I just want the bottle. Then I’ll fill it with a nice Japanese whiskey.

RE: Whiskey Acres
Whiskey Acres is officially out of the NIU bottles. Pretty successful promotion, hope they do it again.

Stopped by today after my youngest graduation. Emotional day as he was the last of 3 of my kids to graduate from NIU. For 8.5 years been sending tuition money to NIU. No regrets, all of them had a great NIU experience and grew up during their time in DeKalb. NIU has its issues for sure and needs to improve, but the caliber of kids my children met at NIU were top notch.

Sorry for the pretty personal post, but like most of you, NIU holds a special place in my heart and will miss not having a kid there, although it will be a nice raise and good for the wallet. 04-cheers

In case you missed out on the whiskey…..a little substitute. I dont think it has anything to do with the university but your stomach won’t know.

Phase Three is pretty solid and it sounds tasty! Coconut porter

They have a few of these under the "niu" lable (I think its pronounced New). And no, nothing to do with NIU.
