AAC championship game date/time
Should never try to go head to head with the SEC, ACC or B1G. After this season the AAC needs to target doing whatever it can to challenge the BigXII for viewership. Meaning pick nights where we have standalone games and especially for our title game.

Friday night of championship week is when our title game needs to be. Take the time slot that the PAC12 had.

Not just that, it conflicts with Tigers basketball.

ABC/ESPN need something to go in the 4pm EST slot. If it’s not AAC or Sun Belt, who is it going to be?

Doesn’t need to be the AAC. Direct competition with the SEC Championship is stupid.

True, but I guess the question boils down to “whose problem is that?”

Obviously the PAC12 slot will be available next year, so I could see that happening. But other leagues may have their eye on that, too.

Hopefully Aresco is gonna give up on this idea of being P6 and focus on being the best of the G5. Because if we can accomplish that, we’ll be in the 12 team playoff every year and then you gain leverage over the MWC & SBC.

Starting next year, it will be “P5”.

P6 was always a media-slogan, and I think it served its purpose quite nicely. It pissed off all the right people (LOL) and the league was able (just barely, but still) to put enough meat on the table to justify it. Now that some programs have left the conference, I don’t think that slogan makes sense anymore. But no need to apologize for it. And anyway, it never interfered with “being the best of the G5.”

RE: AAC championship game date/time
With SEC championship taking the ABC 4:00 Saturday slot starting next year, it seems like there are a couple possibilities.

ESPN in the 4:00 slot. Behind the SEC on our own "family" of networks.
ESPN in the primetime slot. Against the Big10 on Fox AND behind the ACC on our own "family" of networks
ABC on the Friday night
ABC Saturday primetime, sacrificial lamb against the Big10 IF Big12 and ACC shuffle such that one gets Friday night with out Power competition and one gets Saturday noon with out Power competition.

And that's what it may come down to -- what do the Big12 and ACC contracts say? If ESPN and those two are making moves to get away from Big10 competition, we're fourth in line. If they're standing pat, ESPN and the AAC might already be talking about Friday on ABC.
