By all laws of sports standings, James Madison won the Sun Belt this year as a 2nd year FCS transition program.

Most of the playing roster was made up of FCS recruits. One P5 transfer on offense, One P5 transfer on defense. The other 20 starters were FCS recruits and they ran through the mediocre Sun Belt like a hot knife through butter. It has to be discouraging for some of the teams who may now feel like they will never have a shot at a conference title with the competition level being raised by the Dukes.

We won SOCON Championships and FCS Nattys. We won the old sunbelt and the new sunbelt and now we are gonna win an asterisk sunbelt and I hope there’s another weird scenario in the future and we win that one too. You build it, we win it. Put two asterisks and a hashtag next to it if you’d like!

Lock it down and start over.

Is it just me or do Hart’s posts like Kid Rock’s character from Joe Dirt?

Troy is a 7 point favorite. Not sure I trust that.

Wait I thought JMU was playing now that they HAVE to go to a bowl game.

You see how South Alabama's season went. Troy started two years in a row at .500 and managed to go on a run. In that way, I'd say it was unexpected.

Going to be another big time match-up either way. I'd be inclined to think Troy wins because their defense is so steady at this point but we will see. This game hinged on Joey Aguilar because App is going to have trouble running the ball. I really think he's been the difference between 8-4 and 6-6 again.

The Sun Belt refs will even let you tackle after the play! Before the play, after the play, when the ball is in the air! They must leave their flags at home for interference, defensive holding, and post play penalties.

App has lost only a few conference games by more than one score. If the line got down to -4 for Troy I'd be comfortable betting Troy to cover. I'd never hit a line where a team is favored by 7 points or more on App. UNC was favored by 17.5, JMU by 10 and I never got around to betting those games. Wyoming was favored by like 2.5 or something which I also would have taken, even if the way they ended up covering was a once in 100 years (for them) blocked kick returned for a touchdown.

Not sure what the Coastal line was but I think App was favored there. Took Milan Tucker fumbling after a 69 yard reception for Coastal to cover that.

7 points seems like a lot though, especially given the recent history, or entire history, between these two programs.

I can’t imagine App fans feel badly about playing in the CG instead of the team they beat in Harrisonburg.

I’m glad we got App coming to Troy, I know they will travel well. Should be a good time.

Apps offense is really clicking right now… Troy’s defense is legit however the last 2-3 weeks we havnt been playing with the same swag, a lot of that could be that we had officially won the west so there wasn’t a ton to play for other then another win.

If our Defense shows back up, I think we win.

Hard to predict this one. The way App has played the last 4 games, we can hang with anyone in the G5 and a lot of the P5. Always have a ton of respect for Troy. Chip on App’s shoulder is real. Clark made the changes he needed to down the stretch and circled the wagons with the team. They truly believe in each other. I think they take this momentum all the way through to the bowl game. I predict a well fought game, but coin flip on who will be crowned champion.

I will add one more observation about App: yes the offense is clicking but that’s because of the maturation and trust placed in Joey to sling it around and use all the weapons he has. The biggest change however is the defense. Sloan made huge changes mid-season, and the results are staggering.
