RE: Furman Paladins
We will lose close games against good teams bc of Gaines.
Yet again we were the better team but our own miscues and inability to play with any lead keep the game close. So frustrating. At least this one didn’t come down to the very last shot.

Good win.

Getting some consistent performances from Davis and Yax. Something to build on.

Other than missing his usual late free throw, I liked Gaines game tonight. Not trying to do too much and getting other guys involved. Made a great pass to find Toney open in the corner late. That's what I'd like to see from him every game.

I thought our guards struggled but they made plays at the end when it counted most. 10 huge points off the bench for Ortiz.

Hats off to the Bruise Brothers inside!

Yax 19 pts 10 rebs 5 blocks
Davis 17 pts 6 rebs

5 guys in double figures. That's more like it. 17 assists to 9 turnovers.

Gaines had a good game. He scares the sh!t out of me late in games bc he’s shown he can lose games in literally any way possible.

Gaines played under control, but man I don’t have confidence in him at the foul line at the end of the game. He went 7-9, but missed the front end of a one-and-one late. He did make two free throws shortly thereafter.

Yaxel Lendeborg gets the game ball. He finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 blocks, and 2 steals. He did have 4 turnovers. He also has dribbling skills.

RE: Furman Paladins
Furman was well coached. They played very cohesively and made alot of open shots and ran bunch of plays that caught us off-guard.

With that said, we won and gutted out another game. Our largest margin of victory to date.

Yaxel is really improving and adapting to this level. Coleman and Vasquez are falling behind but its still very early in the season so I'm hoping they adapt too. we could be dangerous if they pick it up.

JD is a great power player and is really stepping up where Jemison left a hole.

Will always keep mins available for Shaver to have a big body out there to take the foul off Davis /Yax.

And lose close games for us when he should’ve been Benched for Coleman, dunning, white, etc.

Your takes are terrible.

Shaver will be fine in time. He is not ready yet.

We are 1-1 in Shaver played games.

Your takes are horrid.

Based on the only game I've seen us play(Maryland) and looking at each game's stat sheet, it seems Coleman has been a disappointment. I would be interested in y'all's opinion, especially The Answer. Thanks.

I am not the Answer, but I have an answer. At least on opinion.

He seemed lost a lot of the time, but played harder today. The on-court chemistry is improving between some of the new players and the four returnees, but I haven't seen this from Coleman yet. He looks unsure.

I've never met him, only seen him play from the stands, so it may just be the angle at which I'm seeing him, but he doesn't look 6-9 to me. He appears 2-3 inches shorter than Yax.

Coleman has been a disappointment so far but I see potential. He looked good in our first game against Bradley. Not sure what’s happened since then.

He’s kind of like Yax, and pretty much all of our players, that he really has no position and doesn’t do one thing that really stands out, but is good a lot of things.

We just need to find his role and get him shots in the offense.

I like that he’s very long and athletic and fits our defensive scheme and can guard the other teams 1-5 basically.

You think playing shaver won us the game against Clemson and dilfers game plan against navy was good. Idiotic.

He and Ortiz both posted on IG with bible verses basically saying they needed to persevere through hard times, etc.

I think he just needs time and to find his definitive role. He’s too good to not be a major piece for this team.

It was good to see Ortiz play well today, and it wasn’t just his 3s.

I definitely wouldn't say he has been a disappointment, his last couple of games haven't been great but in totality I've really liked him, defensively he's a good rim protector and can really move his feet laterally, he's pretty raw offensively so being a consistent finisher around the rim which is something he's got to be better at since he cant shoot outside the paint.

Have to remember that Coleman played his entire HS career as a guard. Growth spurt happened when he turned 19. Only played front court hoops for 2-3 years, in NAIA and Juco. He’s got lots of growing developmentally to do.

Is it bad I still wanna see 10-15 for Shaver?

Will - if you'd stop posting to Blazertalk from the bench, you might get some minutes.

I’d still get Shaver Pt when I could. Only way he is going to get better. We need a blowout win so he can get minutes.
