Kidding...kinda, congrats!

I'm really growing to like this rivalry. 04-cheers

11 wins in a row and still considered a rivalry hmmm.

I see USA as a rivalry too, and we can't seem to beat them.

With the attendance loads PTP is handling, the concession/restroom infrastructure is due a big overhaul.

If they’ll just pull the upper deck restrooms at the Rock into the 1990s I’ll be happy. Currently, I hear the words, “Dad, I have to go to the bathroom” and spend the next 5 minutes trying to talk the boy out of it.

Here's a decent look at the renovation plans made public in 2015, which was now 3 ADs (and a logo) ago and had no funding in place. The new plans will probably differ, but I'd imagine the general concepts are the same. These old plans included a club level, which you can see on the left at 0:16 and would've been available to host community receptions/meetings/etc. I don't see that on the current "to do" list, probably replaced by the "mini-suites," which the old plans didn't include.

I have most of the drawings seen in this video, but I don't have them readily available. If I can find them without a lot of effort, I'll follow up.

Where the team plays while this big of a project is undertaken is a question that will need to be answered. When these old plans were announced, it was said most home games would be played at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi with others in Jackson and Tupelo. I would think the Forrest County Multipurpose Center arena in Hattiesburg could host basketball in general without much problem, but it'd be a pretty lousy place to play D1 hoops.

That particular renovation was estimated to be in the 35 million dollar range in 2015. Adjusted for inflation, it's about 45 million today. Our budget is now 43 million so it'll probably be similar.

My only question is...will they still do ALL chairbacks or incorporate some benches too? The '15 renderings had all chairbacks...

Those old plans are not a good guide. They were speculative and done by McGillis so he could say he was doing something. There was never any financing or fund raising plan behind it. The new plans will have a new main entrance on the north (West 4th Street) side, likely taking in the space now where the concessions and bathrooms are with new construction added. They are going to extend the concourses either by building outward or (more likely) taking in the upper rows of the existing seats. They are adding loading dock capacity as well as the ability to rig for concerts. They're putting in "mini-suites" in the expanded concourses as well as some kind of revamped floor seating to make better use of the floor space. They will replace all the chairbacks and wooden bench seating which are 58 years old. The first thing is a new roof, which is in the bid process. There will be a practice facility added on the south side in the later phases. I'm not sure if that's in the financing or not.

I read elsewhere that it would likely be mostly benches with backs (like The Pete has in the non-chairback area) in place of the current benches, as chairbacks take up a LOT more room in all directions.

So do most people compared to 60 years ago.

Nice looking renderings to fix the circle seating configuration. You’ll need to throw some premium club seating and suites in there in the new design. The revenue is 10x more per capita on premium seats than average joe seats.

I always thought the way Georgia Tech addressed that in their similarly configured arena was pretty sensible.
