I kind of questioned if the transfers weren’t more linked to playing time rather than NIL money. The ones that are transferring had very little production. Maybe they didn’t think they were going to get a chance to play meaningful minutes here?

From what I recall the past two seasons, Coach Brown didn't have major turnover of players and staff her first year, though after year 2 things may change. Given the unexpected firing of her predecessor and doing surprisingly well her first season, a lot of players and staff seemed to be in a bit of wait and see mode. Now that she's been there 2 seasons she may well have a better idea of what she feels the team does or doesn't need moving forward.

I watched a handful of games and I wonder the same thing. McDaniel was the only one I remember that I saw get consistent playing time; maybe she thought she should be starting. I don't recall the rest playing much. If you're a junior and you still don't get minutes, I certainly understand why you look elsewhere. And the younger ones just don't see a spot opening up.

I do wonder what NIL looks like for a non revenue sport athlete and how big a factor that really is in transferring. I only see athletes in commercials and those I see are not from mid major schools. I'd like to read an article on the sorts of agreements there are in that world.

NIL money in FB and MBB mostly comes from on field/court performance. Womens sports is quite a bit different. Their potential comes from their social media presence. I know UTC Freshman Hannah Kohn entered the portal...She is not going to end up on an ACC or SEC team. She can shoot the three pretty good (over socon players), but she is two steps too slow to play in the high majors...However, she is quite attractive and has 250,000 followers on instagram...so she is valuable in THAT aspect!
