Hear Me Out
The sky is not falling. Not today. We will be ok. Look at FAU and Tom Herman. We are in the same predicament. I doubt they are ready to fire their coach after 8 games. We have the toughest schedule in the conference. Look at the stretch from Georgia to Memphis.

Mark Ingram we need to get rid of though ASAP. Just off soccer alone.

RE: Hear Me Out
We are not in the same situation.

Herman is a proven coach and I’d have faith he could right the ship.

We have a high school or completely inexperienced staff.

I Have no faith they will turn it around.

How can you have faith when we win a game and then look like Attalla Ass against one of the worst teams in the country with an ASSinine game plan?

The lack of in game adjustments, inconsistency from the team (no consistent growth game to game), their asinine game plan, and their overall inexperience, are all what scare me to death.

Last night for example: we were 45/55 run/pas last night. Against a horrible pass defense. And we ran it up the middle over and over and over with a very undersized running back behind a bad to decent at best O line. We threw 1 yard screens, which are basically run plays, time and time and time again. It was clear the coaching staff came up with this asinine game plan during the week, and the couldn’t see that it was working and CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING. What’s the definition of insanity?

If we have a game plan that the other team can’t adjust to (but we sure as hell won’t make adjustments), play a really bad team, and play them at home - we have a chance to win by a field goal.

After last night it would take a huge turnaround for me to buy back in. I’ve lost my confidence. You can say all you want about the talent and depth - but this coaching staff would lose with 4&5 star players due to issues with their game plan, lack of adjustments, and inability to pivot.

With the attitudes at UAB we’ll see where we are in 3 years I guess.

RE: Hear Me Out
All the metrics and analytics, still not one person smart enough to find the “120th in pass defense” stat.

Our whole athletic department is a dumpster fire.

Hopefully Daugherty can build on last season and Dunn bounces back. Everything else meaningful is regressing or worst in the conference bad.

Who thought that when football, rifle, and bowling were reinstated, that rifle and bowling would be the ones carrying the entire athletic department?

RE: Hear Me Out
I will preface this by saying I don't know who the actual candidates for the job were, but ...

Curt Cignetti was rumored to be interested in the UAB job. Instead Ingram hired a high school coach from a small* private school. James Madison is 10-0

Jamey Chadwell was rumored to be interested, instead Ingram hired McDilfer. Chadwell went to Liberty. Liberty is 10-0

The fact that Mark Ingram just got a contract extension is an abomination.

*Lipscomb is a small school in a small school league. At Lipscomb, McDilfer was playing the equivalent of a 1A - 2A schedule with 7A talent. Hard not to win with that kind of advantage.

RE: Hear Me Out
There was fan interest in them, not them interested in us.

Chadwell wasn’t leaving the beach for a program in which his own surpassed.

Cignetti, knows James Madison was light years ahead of us talent wise, even in FCS. Having coached at UA previously, I’m sure he knew not to touch us with a 10 foot pole.

There was a point where I thought if our athletics/football foundation had anything to do with it, that we’d make a phenomenal, next level football hire. Now, it’s safe to assume, they had no say or pull.

The only counterpoint I want to bring up here is that Herman could very well just mail it in for a paycheck, he wouldn't be the first FAU retread to do so.

That might be true but id still have more confidence someone else could turn it around

Chadwell wasn’t coming here when Liberty threw $4 million at him. And yes Liberty is good, but look at that schedule. There’s a reason they have almost no shot at a NY6 bowl.

Cignetti I would’ve been okay with. But maybe this job wasn’t attractive enough for him to leave JMU. And if that’s the case, there’s a big problem in the athletic department.

I’m giving Dilfer another year, but I went from a supporter of his to neutral after yesterday’s game.

RE: Hear Me Out
I’ve been trying to figure out what the hell the offensive game plan was
The only thing I can think of is that we didn’t want to score too fast, as that would continually put our Defense on the field.

Unfortunately, don’t score too fast turned into don’t score at all

Also, can we stop with the "we've been set back a decade" shtick? With the right coach (whether it be Dilfer or someone else), getting back to where we were isn't the mountain some are making it out to be. And with what Tulane's done, it's shown what can be done in just 2-3 years with the right guy.

This. A decade ago was 2013 & McGee with the BOT telling donors “no thanks” to $$ all the while sharpening the axe (oh, and telling the AD not to accept our spot in AAC…it was taken by Tulsa). McGee was a sociopath who would (and did) make decisions, including in-game, just to say “FU!!”

When Bill Clark resigned and it became clear that we didn't want to keep Vincent, my first thought was Tyson Helton at WKU. Could we have gotten him?

I imagine he'd be Clark 2.0, without the conference championships since we're now in the AAC. Probably beating the bad teams and qualifying for a bowl without getting any significant OOC wins.

It's been 10 years since the program has been this bad. That doesn't mean it could or should take that long to bounce back IF we have the right guy. I agree it can be done in 2-3 years so Dilfer shouldn't get a day past 3 seasons to show something. If we regress next year from the current mess then go ahead and dump him.
