I was content with the guard/wing play other than a few defensive lapses and at times I felt McGriff/TyCuff tried to play hero ball when the game got out of hand. 11 assists on just 55 points is not bad
Conversely, the frontcourt shot only 7 of 22 and botched a few easy plays set up for them. Although, to give them credit, they had 2 of the 11 assists and generally seem like good passers. Nonetheless, this is clearly the weaker side of the team, imo.
Did you miss the part about 18 turnovers?

50% of the turnovers were committed by the frontcourt players who only occupied 40% of the minutes. So my point still stands.
And I am not knocking the frontcourt. I think they are skilled and will continue to develop. I just think the guard/wing play is more developed and therefore their further development is less pressing of a need at this point.

RE: Butler
I didn’t watch the game but it’s going to be a long year. Oakland had a very respectable loss to Ohio State and led most of the game. Powerhouse James Madison (cough) beat number 4 MSU on the road.
I did go to Toledo and watched them dismantle a bad UofD team by 40 points. Toledo has a great chance to repeat as champs. Big strong guards who can shoot it and get in the lane. Just like the talent gap we have in football to Toledo there’s even a larger gap in basketball.
Losing by 40 points to Butler tells me Stan hasn’t coached any changes to his defensive strategy.
I’m predicting Stan wins 4-5 MAC games - next coach up.

How many years do you want to wait for the front court to develop?

Dear Friends,
The season has just started, but if we get blown out by a team that was supposed to be rebuilding???
I am afraid that Coach Heath is not very good at developing players, and not very good in recruiting players. I think this is going to be another season like last year. Not that anyone said it was going to be different.

Waiting for our front court players to develop is like waiting for Austin Smith to develop into Taylor Powell..
You can wish it would happen but I think you will disappointed. If our front court cant produce more this year in scoring rebounds and blocked shots Stan needs to turn in those cards for a new hand.

Size isn't a cure. Speed, quickness and positioning are.

Ken we lost most of our scoring from last year's losing team. We lost more than we gained in the transfer portal. It's going to be another rebuilding year in an endless string of them.
