We won a bowl game last year! Duh! Wtf are talking about? We're not Michigan! 07-coffee3

Super, the team isn't good this yr. They have totally underperformed less a couple players. Coaches have been flat out AWFUL. the anger is from fans that were sold on "Stacking" and "The Standard" It's ok to be critical and say this is not acceptable from a 10th year head coach who missed the mark on his identification of a QB as well as offensive play calling. We all will still root for this team, but I think for most of us I can say that raisi g the expectations is a good thing. We've got to get past the mindset of 'well, we won last year so that should buy us time.' We have better facilities, much more fan support and better recruits. This team isn't good and I hope we have a revamped coaching and starting roster next year. 9-4 last to potentially 5-7 with thus easy of a schedule is IMO not good enough
The team doesn't go to a friggin' bowl game in 29 years and then gets to 5--hopefully 6 under Chris Creighton and suddenly everyone is inpatient? Where was everyone from 1988 to 2015? Is this a joke?

Bob, so you're totally satisfied with this season then, correct? We should all be happy because it's not as bad as the past. Wow. Your expectations are low.

Hell yes our expectations are low. Are we so vain that we thought EMU could reload?

45-21 Toledo.

I think the fix was in. 03-lmfao You really were close to the final score.

I’ve seen the future, Steve. LoL
I even have next coach predictions, but I’ll ease up.

Didn't say they were good this Year. But we don't fire coaches after on losing year at EMU. My first 125 home football home games I only saw 20 wins. We are not Michigan that fires it's head coach after 1 or 2 bad years. We just don't have access to the talent year in and year out. We are lucky to get the talent we do.
Agree with Super on this.

I hate suspense! Are we bringing back Jeff Woodruff? Look, aspiring coaches are not busting down the door to destroy their coaching upward mobility. It is really, really, really, really, really hard to win here. I've been a fan of EMU football since I was 10. I've seen Ed Chlebek, Jim Harkema, and Chris Creighton have success here--short-lived in each case. Creighton has had the longest run of respectable football in the modern era.

I don't think it was that much of a reload job though. Obviously we were losing Jose on defense, but other than that pretty much the whole D was back. On offense we had three (which turned into two) starters back on the line, and two others with part-time starting experience. Our leading receiver and maybe the most talented (Lassiter) both back, along with some young TEs who had playing experience. Our top two RBs were back and a QB who had a handful of starts for a 9-4 team (yes, I think we all knew Powell was better last year though). With all that coming back I think it was reasonable for people to think we could have a season similar to last years. So it makes sense why hopes were high on the onset of the offseason.

Now, once Johnson and Lassiter transferred out those were two big holes and even made me worry some. I also don't think any of us realized how much our running game and four stud WRs masked Smith's issues. When you even get Creighton saying they need to get better QB play, you know its a problem. I think with any other EMU QB from 2016-2022 this team is probably 6-4 right now instead of 4-6.

Good points. With Glass, Wiegers, Roback, Hutchinson, Powell, Bryant...we've been blessed with some outstanding QBs, I think 6-4 would be the absolute floor with this group.

Great post once again, SD! Nate Wiegers or Preston Hutchinson do get us to AT LEAST 6-4, Bryant, Roback and Glass might have done even better. Austin is one hell of a back-up QB. He can hand off the ball to Evans to beat ASU and take care of the ball enough to beat crappy teams like UMASS, Ball St and Akron last season. He does not, however, destroy WMU, CMU, Kent and SJSU like Powell did.

Say what we will, but we did NOT return both of our running backs either. Samson Evans' knees have diminished his performance to an astonishing extent, although I salute his performance. Jaylon Jackson is a "home run" back and this year we are running him between the tackles on 1st and 2nd downs. Bad fit for sure.

We got a glimpse of the future at RB in the Toledo game with Dontae McMillian and Elijah Jackson Anderson get a chance to shine. I'm not worried about running backs next year providing we can find offensive linemen who can block for them better than I saw this year. Losing Sow and Johnson really hurt us this year. We need improvement in this area.

Add defensive line injuries to Merritt, Haney, Miles Carter Evans Javier and DB injuries to Peavy and Scott. The good news is some younger folks got some reps. White at DB was a standout. We continue to redshirt most of the frosh class which is good.
