I like being in the ACC and do feel Calistan added to conference security.
And I like that BC-SYR-Pitt are being treated similar to Calistan, a regional grouping.
I very much like the de-coupling of SU-FSU (that was just weird), & only having to play FSU & Clemson 3 times each over next 7 years.
And if it's true that the fixed rivals had to be mutually agreed upon, that says something about UNC & NC State. Of course the almighty $ rules, but change conferences & you're not taking all 3 of your rivals w/ you!
And to that end, of course the 7 year scheduling model is only written in pencil..

What it says about UNC and NC State is that you have no football players to recruit in the State of NY. UNC nor State gain anything playing BC or Syracuse other than the novelty of a trip to Boston and Syracuse. Now at BC, there is no place to park the $45K pig cooker as a visitor. At Syracuse there is nothing special enough to keep the wife happy. Even your fall scenery is no big deal to a North Carolina person who can get all the leaf looking they want in the Western NC mountains.

But ask yourself this, how great is a trip to the Triangle from Boston or NY?

Well?

Truth is it sucks as a destination - it's a vast upper middle, lower upper class suburban area with three separate downtowns.

Syracuse is vastly underrated as a travel destination. A ton of things to do. In fact to entice Micron to build a $100 Billion facility they
approved a nearly $100M Aquarium and it just broke ground.

Within about 2 hours
Niagara Falls
Finger Lakes
Wineries
Multiple Casinos
Several World Class Golf Courses
Two Great Lakes
Adirondack Mtns
1000 Islands
World Class Fishing
Cooperstown
Saratoga Springs
Corning
6th largest Mall in the USA
Multiple Museums
Outstanding Restaurants in Syracuse

Finally in 2024: tailgate for several hours and walk inside to climate controlled comfort, individual seats throughout, huge ass SOA center hung scoreboard and 5G wifi.

Thank you for that chamber of commerce moment, but it's three hours to Falls from Syracuse taking into account crossing the boarder. But congrats on the Micron plant in Clay. IIRC Syracuse itself has not grown in 60 years and had developed a number of suburban enclaves outside the city limits.

Out of economic development curiosity, what landed the plant there? I'm guessing you have relatively cheap and abundant electricity from Niagara and the Fingers and the mountains ought to supply relatively easy to clean water. How are you going to keep Cornell from sticking its nose into it?

I was thinking the NY side of the Falls and said about 2 hours...probably closer to 2 1/2

What got Micron

1. Politics and billions of free $$$
2. Chips Act
3. NY Chip Bill
4. 1300 acre site with a 765KV line in front.
5. Cheap electricity from Niagara Falls, St Lawrence River and two nearby nuke plants
6. Abundant water from Lake Ontario 30 miles away via pipeline
7. Cornell, Syracuse, RIT, Clarkson, RPI and a bunch of SUNYs within 2 hrs

Can't underestimate the Republican County Executive who keep buying up land and doing infrastructure improvements to a piece of land 12 miles north of the city. For once both Republicans and Democrats sorted "rowed together"

I heard they came in 2nd or 3rd for the TMSC factory in AZ and Intel in Ohio. Losing out they might have actually received the biggest factory surprise in decades.

SYR metro to Buffalo metro just awarded a National Tech Center designation.

Today TTM corporation announced they are adding 400 jobs to build a high tech military circuit board plant in Syracuse.

Politicians are predicting 100K+ new residents

We'll see.

I expect more local kids will stay after HS and College vs hdg to the BOS-WASH or points south.

Then the "Loud House" would finally get loud again, I imagine.

We can hope.

A consistent winning team would help

Needling aside, that's a lot to be proud of. 04-cheers
