I was not impressed.
I’ve been defending this team. But have to say today, I was not impressed in watching this game today.

They should have blown Akron out. We may very well win 6 maybe seven games with the remaining schedule. But this team is missing something. The fire is not there, in my opinion.

There is no excuse to struggle at home on homecoming against a 1-5 team.

There is something missing in this Chippewa team this year. Someone need to step up and lead this team.

While we could have played better, take a look at Akron's schedule:

Temple: Lost 21-24
Morgan State: Won 24-21
Kentucky: Lost 35-3
Indiana: Lost 29-27 in OT
Buffalo: Lost 13-10 in OT
NIU: Lost 55-14

Not sure what happened last week, but in general, the Zips have given teams a fight before losing.

RE: I was not impressed.
Well, I guess I just don’t think the teams you listed there are all that great that Akron lost to.

Indiana just got blown out the last two weeks in a row. Buffalo lost at home to BG.
I would have expected our score to have been more like the score that NIU beat them. The weather wasn’t a factor. It had stopped raining. It was a little windy, but not as windy as it was when tailgating started.

Central’s remaining schedule could very well get them to 6 wins. Maybe even 7. But I don’t see them challenging Toledo for the division in that last game after Thanksgiving at home.

I just don’t see the fire in this team and putting an opponent away like they have in the past. Maybe it’s just me. I hope I’m wrong.

Oh, and what’s happened to BE? He’s been missing in action. I don’t remember seeing him get on the field at all yesterday.

With his running and speed, I would think they would find a way to get him the ball a few times a game, at least.

All of the above. I feel like we lost. Something I feel should happen to our entire coaching staff. They get a vote of NO CONFIDENCE from me.

Bert's still injured, if the ESPN crew was correct.

I thought he was out previously due to covid? I must have missed him getting injured.

He was, but he hurt his shoulder in the EMU game. He took a shot going OOB and landed on it.

Agree. I'm not trying to be negative but I watched a lot of G5 games this year. S Alabama was a fluke win.
I just think we are not very good.
I don't get the live for mcelwain. Barely a .500 coach at cmu, no energy and the players mimic this. I don't see player development. And with all the good draft classes he has the talent is clearly missing. I am worried about BSU I think they beat us.

That's not being negative, but rather realistic. I hate it when people sugar-coat issues to avoid reality!

Most likely, McElwain is our coach for at least a couple more years as he just signed an extension last year and CMU isn’t going to eat that contract extension.

I’d really like to see him dump his OC and DC though. There has to be better options out there than what we currently have.

I'd be good with dumping Petrino, who may be OC in name only, at this point. The D is actually improving as the season goes on, so I think we're good there. Although losing our starting MLB for any length of time could be an issue.
