Miami is obviously favored and has the upper hand in this one, they are among the Top 3 teams in the league. But all those factors noted above should make this one interesting.

I'm actually more optimistic about our chances especially after how well we played against Mississippi State last weekend -- that game, btw, was replayed on the SEC network last night. Miami will be a tough out as will Ohio on the road. However, I would prefer to take it on the chin this year in hopes we'll have favorable MAC east opponents down the road.

Yup, if the cycle continues as it should, we should be seeing Kent, Akron and Buffalo next season.

For Miami, they haven't beaten us in 17 years.

Miami is 5 - 1 with a season opening 38 - 3 loss at the other Miami. In week 3 they went to Cincinnati and won in OT 31 - 24.

They beat weaklings UMASS 41 - 28, Delaware St. 62 - 20, and Kent St. 23 - 3.

Unsure what to make of Bowling Green, who Miami beat 27 - 0.

So, the record looks gaudy and they have given up only 3 points to MAC teams. We can expect their defense to be stout and the offense can score points in bunches.

Gabbert is a good QB, as we know. Our secondary is suspect but has at times been hung out to dry with no discernible pressure on the QB.

Miami has 213 rushing attempts for 1158 yards or 4.9 yd/att.

They have 78 completions in 128 passing attempts with 3 interceptions for 1269 yards. That is 9.91/attempt.

They have 12 passing TD and 9 rushing TD. They use 4 RB regularly. The leading rusher is Rashod Amos, who is a load at 6' 2" and 234 lb.

They throw primarily to 4 receivers. Their leading receiver is Gage Larvadain who has 18 catches for 438 yards and 4 TD with a long of 99 yards. He averages 109.5 yd/gm.

Their kicker is 11/11 in FG.

They are 28 out of 66 on 3rd downs for 42.42%.

My take, for what it's worth:

Expect a close game. If we can eliminate the self inflicted injuries like penalties that kill drives on offense, I like our chances but our D has to hold firm in the secondary and our D line needs to get some pressure on Gabbert. We will need to score more than two or three TD to win this one. If our team continues to show the grit and determination to keep fighting no matter what, this game could be there for the taking.

Interesting that the O/U is 44.5, so the experts expect a low scoring game.

Miami as noted beat Cincy who doesn't have a great record, but looking at their schedule I don't see them being any worse than Mississippi State. I like the fight our team has shown and expect that'll continue (so no blowout) but until WMU shows an ability to get over the hump against a quality opponent I will have doubts on actually winning against them.

Any chance that the field floods today? We have had a lot of rain come down overnight and it is still coming down pretty good as of 8:30AM. We have a group of us starting our tailgate around 11:30AM, some coming from out of town. Going to be a cold, wet one out there today, so just wondering about field conditions.

I think we can get the upset. I don't think we're THAT bad & upsets happen regularly in the MAC.

I think we could -- wouldn't make headlines if we do. However, even though Miami is by no means fool-proof, we have a ways to go. And Miami is a solid team, while we're unpredictable, on both the good side and bad side. The weather won't be great as it'll be raining thru it, which will only escalate that.

It'd certainly put Ohio in the position to win the East -- but WMU's going to be a virgin and won't be putting out against the best MAC teams. Even though it's @WMU, the rain and stuff will hurt them as they aren't stabilized yet. However, the weather will make it so that it'll be lower scoring, which does help WMU's bad D.

Guessing the rain will keep the crowd sparse. It looks like it's dissipating but history doesn't show great crowds at Waldo when there's any rain around.

our DB's are lost. Just no sense of where the recivers are and spotting them 5 to 10yard cushions... pathetic.
